Acer Liquid E1

Despite having a decently recognizable brand in both the PC and tablet markets, Acer has never made an effort to replicate that popularity in the smartphone universe. But if there was ever a time to buy a phone from Acer, it’s now, as the Liquid E1 Duo is up for pre-orders in the UK at a very enticing price.

Unveiled for the first time in China back in January and then introduced two more times in Europe and SE Asia, the Liquid E1 definitely has what one would call a decent quality-price ratio.

Listed by British retailer Expansys at £174.99 ($266) outright, the E1 is no flagship, but it has a nice, cozy place reserved in the mid-range niche. The display is comfortably sized (4.5 inches) and comes with a 960 x 540 pixels resolution, there’s a dual-core 1 GHz CPU beneath the hood, as well as 1 GB of RAM and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

You can’t be unhappy with the 5 MP rear-facing snapper (it even has Flash), while the VGA front-facing cam and 4 GB of on-board storage are definitely not special, but not major deal-breakers either.

Other standard features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and aGPS, whereas the biggest flaw of the E1 is probably the much too meager 1,760 mAh battery. On the bright side, that has allowed Acer to keep the profile thin (9.9 mm), while the overall design is not bad, but just a little tacky.

Finally, let’s not forget to mention the phone up for pre-orders on Expansys is the “Duo” version, meaning it comes with dual-SIM capacities. There’s no exact shipping date mentioned yet, but our guess is the release will happen both in the UK and other European countries in a couple of weeks tops. Anyone interested?
