Touchscreen-equipped Acer C720p Chromebook arrives in early December, priced at $300

It looks like the Chromebook Pixel is no longer the only touchscreen-equipped Chromebook on the market! Today Acer officially unveiled its low-cost touchscreen-powered Acer C720p, priced at just $300.
November 26, 2013

If you like the idea of a Chromebook with a touchscreen but aren’t willing to pony up the $1299 for the Google Chromebook Pixel, you might want to take a look at the newly announced Acer C720P. The Acer C720P is the first low-cost Chromebook with a touchscreen, priced reasonably at $299.99.

Aside from the 11.6-inch 1366×768 touchscreen display, the laptop’s specs are quite ordinary with an Intel Celeron 2955U Haswell CPU, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage and a battery rated for about 7.5 hours of use. The laptop also comes equipped with an HDMI port and USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports.

Not keen on the idea of only having 32GB of storage space? The Acer C720P also comes with 100GB of free Google Drive space for two years.

Despite what Microsoft wants you to think, there’s a lot to like about Chromebooks including 7-second boot times, a virus free OS, an easy to use UI and a growing number of web and offline apps. Bottom-line, if you’re a gamer or someone that needs traditional Windows or Mac apps, Chromebooks like the Acer C720P probably won’t fit the bill. If you spend most of your time in the cloud, then the Acer C720P could be perfect for you.

If you’re interested in picking up the C720P, you can do so from Acer, Amazon or Best Buy starting in December. What do you think of the Acer C720P, is it a viable alternative to a more traditional Windows/Mac PC, or not?
