sony xperia z2 tablet review (4 of 17)

There have been a few rumors suggesting that Sony may be preparing a smaller 8-inch tablet for release alongside the Xperia Z3 (and perhaps Z3 Compact) at IFA. Now thanks to Techtastic, we have even more ‘proof’ to support that such a device is coming down the pipe. The latest evidence is found within a user guide for the the Sony BSC10 Bluetooth speaker.

In the list of compatible devices we find mention of the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. While this obviously doesn’t give us any clue as to what the specs will be or when such a device will arrive, it does lend a bit more credence to the idea that a smaller Xperia tablet is heading our way.

We may know next to nothing about this tablet, but we can certainly speculate a few things. First, if Sony follows a path similar to the Z2 and Z2 tablet, we can expect many of the Z3 Tablet Compact’s specs to be similar to Sony’s flagship Z3, meaning very likely a Snapdragon 801 and 3GB of RAM. Second, the recently leaked LTE-equipped Sony SGP621 is believed to be a variant of the Z3 Tablet Compact, so that means we can probably expect both WiFi-only and LTE-capable models.

For now, a lot of the Z3 Tablet Compact’s specifics remain a mystery, though we’ll be sure to keep you updated as we learn more! What do you think, like the idea of an 8-inch Sony tablet with high-end specs?
