Evidence that the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact are on their way has been piling up recently, as we have already seen some leaked hardware details and even an image of the two side by side. The two rumored Sony handsets have now also shown up in a screenshot taken from a Vodafone Germany staff document .
The screenshot, which you can see below, is apparently taken from an internal staff promotion which will be running through until the end of September, whereby staff can earn bonus points for selling various smartphones.
Whilst Samsung sales will result in just a single reward point, anyone who closes a deal on a new HTC handset or one from Sony’s large range will receive 1.5 points. It is here, at the bottom, where you can spot a mention of the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact. Again, this suggest that Sony is bypassing a potential Z2 Compact and is heading directly to the Z3 model.
Given that the promotion will be running from July until September, the new Xperia handsets will have to be released sometime in the next three months. The current expectation is that Sony will make an announcement at the IFA 2014, which is taking place from the 5th to 10th of September in Berlin. It is possible that Sony could announce the handset at the event, accompanied by a simultaneous release to customers, which would certainly be a nice surprise. On the other hand, we could be looking at an even earlier release date.
