Xperia Z1 Compact pre-order promotions kick off in European markets

January 9, 2014

    Sony Xperia Z1 Compact side

Announced at CES 2014, the Xperia Z1 Compact will soon be available in various European markets, and Sony is already getting ready to offer users some sweet deals in the region.

As long as buyers are interested in purchasing the device for full price, they can head to local Sony online stores in various European countries, and pre-order a discounted device – the device is also available for pre-order from other retailers.

Keep in mind that the Xperia Z1 Compact, while a smaller Android device that could be easily mislabeled as a Mini device with uninteresting specs, it’s actually a flagship Sony handset, packing most of the specs offered by it’s bigger brother, the Xperia Z1. The Xperia Z1 Compact has a smaller 4.3-inch 720p display and a smaller battery, but otherwise it’s got all the hardware the Xperia Z1 has from processor to camera to memory – check out our video hands-on with the device from CES.

That said, here’s what the off-contract handset will cost you depending on European country:

    • France: €499 after €50 refund
    • Germany: €499 bundled with a €1 Sony Wireless Headset
    • Italy: €499 bundled with a €1 Sony Wireless Headset
    • Poland: PLN 1,999 bundled with a PLN 1 Sony Wireless Headset
    • Spain: €549 bundled with a €1 Sony Wireless Headset
    • Sweden: SEK 4,695 bundled with a SEK 1 Sony Wireless Headset
    • UK: £449 bundled with free Sony SmartWatch 2

In order to get the discount, discounted accessory or free SmartWatch 2, buyers will have to pre-order the handset right away. For some reason, Dutch buyers aren’t offered any Xperia Z1 Compact deal, with the device being priced at €549 in the country.

Are you buying the Xperia Z1 Compact?

it is a proper flagship device…

An under-spec’ed iPhone 5S, with a 4″ screen is premiering at 799$ and is perfectly fine with everybody

        • number29

The iPhone 5S is well specced for the OS it runs.

          • raj

oh i forgot that it is running DOS
            perfect

who told you it is “perfectly fine”? LOL

Moto X is a proper flagship device and it’s half this price.

If the price is the most iportant things for you Nexus devices is way… moch more better than moto x.
Z1 Compact is only for anyone who need a compact and premium waterproof smartphone with cutting edge specs.
And Xperia SP is good enough to compete with moto x in terms of performance and price.

Just come and get my money!!!

no (proper) battery test –> won’t preorder.

z1 seemed to do “ok” but not great although it has a huge battery. lets see how the compact version will do.

I have pre-ordered one in black. The order confirmation informed me that it will be shipped by the end of February. I am uncertain as to whether I will keep the SmartWatch. It does seem to be a bit of a gimmick and I should be able to sell it for around £100, which will effectively mean I will have paid £350 for a Z1 Compact.

$700! I wanted to really like this, but I’ll stick with my Moto X I bought for half that price.

Remember, everything is more expensive in Europe. Odds are we’re looking at $450-500 in the US. The Z1s on T-Mobile is starting at $529.

    • Hugo Oskarsson

I would say this is quite expensive in sweden since it costs more than 200$ more than it does in the US, but it’s actually pretty cheap considering the nexus five costs 4500 SEK/ 700$ here…

127 x 64.9 x 9.5 mm is not very compact. It would be hard to get in and out of many pockets. Sony has another much smaller one they sell only in Japan for what is about US$900 so that probably explains why they don’t sell a real compact one in the West?

Can’t wait for this phone to be available in the Philippines, I’m surely going to get this one. Also I hope Sony will going to release a version for this phone which is battery replaceable. :)
