5-inch Xiaomi Mi2A could be launching as early as May

by: Andrew GrushFebruary 20, 2013

Previously it was believed that the next-generation Xiaomi phone would arrive in mid-2013 under the name Xiaomi Mi3. Now new rumors indicate the next phone from the company will be called the Mi2A and could be arriving as early as May.

According to the rumor, the Mi2A will feature a 5-inch 1080p display, though not much else is known about the device beyond that. Interestingly enough, May of last year was when the youth version of Xiaomi M1 was launched.

Again, its hard to say whether the phone will feature more advanced specs than the Mi2 outside of the display, or whether the 5-inch screen is the only major change.

For those wondering what this news means for the Mi3, more than likely the phone will still be launched during the company’s traditional August timeframe as a full-fledged successor to the Mi2.

Does that mean Xiaomi is planning two 5-inchers for release this year? That is certainly possible, but in the meantime remember this is just a rumor until we are given more solid information to go on, and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Am I the only one in here that would love to try one of these out?

    • No you are actually not sir. This device is VERY popular in China. It’s a very good device for a low price. And I believe Qualcomm part owns the company so they get the latest CPU’s I think this will have the latest Snapdragon version.

Mi2 is a great phone. It has the most polished version of Android I’ve used (I’m coming from the Nexus 4). A bigger screen would make it the perfect phone for me.
