Xiaomi has recorded the sale of all 200,000 Xiaomi M2S smartphones in stock, in just 45 seconds. Yes, you read that correctly, 45 seconds!
The Xiaomi M2S comes with some heavy hitting specifications, like a 1.7Ghz Quad-Core Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM and a 720p, 4.3 inch screen. The 16GB version comes with an eight megapixel camera, and the 32GB edition brings an updated 13 megapixel camera to the party. In fact, Xiaomi claims that the phone is faster than the Galaxy S4 (with the same Snapdragon 600 processor).
Xiaomi says that the M2S can achieve a score of 25,913 in Antutu, besting the S4’s slightly lower score of 25,446. That impressive claim is made more believable by the fact that the M2S is pushing less pixels than the Galaxy S4, but it will be interesting to see if the claims are genuine.
With specs like those, all Xiaomi needed was a sweet price to coax the phone down people’s throats. The 16GB version costs 1999 Yuan ($323.45 USD) and the 32GB model costs just 2299 Yuan ($372.25 USD).
With an amazing price, it’s no wonder the phone is such a big hit, however, it’s unlikely we’ll ever see the Xiaomi M2S outside of Asia.
