According to The Business Insider, Walmart will not stock Google’s Nexus One, despite the recent news spree that it will. Plenty of news websites had spotted the Nexus One available on the Walmart’s wireless site, but according to Walmart, this was a mistake. Here is what Walmart spokesman Ravi Jariwala had to say on the matter.
“Due to a technical error, this item erroneously was displayed on our site. We’re working with our partner Let’s Talk to have it removed as quickly as possible. We have no plans to carry Nexus One in Walmart stores or online at Walmart.com at this time.”
Now, the way I see it, there are only two primary distinct options as to why this could have happened. Option number one would be that someone at Walmart/Let’s Talk decided to have a joke and put the phone online completely off their own back without any company endorsement. This would have surely resulted in a job loss. Option number two is that the Google Nexus One is scheduled to go on sale with Walmart, but that it got put online prematurely and Walmart had a legal obligation to deny it was going to be selling the Google Nexus One.
