It appears that VoIP service provider Voxofon is going to make available a client for the Android platform that will automatically route calls dialed to international numbers over its low-cost VoIP network in order to save users some hard earned cash.
The Voxofon client will run in the background and automatically kick in when an international number is dialed, meaning that users won’t have to do anything differently than what they do for normal domestic calls. At that point the user can choose how to handle the call, such as by going through a local Voxofon gateway number.
International calling rates start at 1.3 U.S. cents per minute.
You can get a look at the Voxofon client in action thanks to the demo on the company’s website.
