Sticking to their original shipping date plans of August 14th, today VIZIO’s much anticipated $99 Google TV set top box has started shipping to the first round of pre-order customers. If you were lucky enough to be in on the first round of pre-orders from VIZIO, you’ll be getting an email notification along with a shipment confirmation in the very near future.
If you didn’t get in on the initial pre-order extravaganza, you’ll have to wait a bit longer for Google’s second generation TV set top box. It seems VIZIO is still listing the Co-Star as temporarily sold out on their website.
Be sure to let us know when you get your shipment notification. Let the refreshing and frantic mail checking and rechecking begin!

I ‘ve been checking my email all day, no joy. :(
I pre-orderd one, since day one, and I never received any email ??? :-( now the website ,says sold out …..
Something happened then, cause if you didn’t get an email confirmation, then you didn’t get in on the pre-order.
I have not received an email yet either. But when I check my Vizio account, it shows the device has shipped. But there is no tracking information and there is no date on the shipping. Just “shipped”. Looking forward to playing with it. My brother has the original Sony Google TV and I thought it was a good device but I had no use for a Blu-Ray player. This should be interesting (until releases their next AppleTV).
I got billed today for mine but my Vizio account still shows processing
I’m looking for 1 person that got a shipping conformation yesterday. I don’t think any actually shipped yesterday. I was charged last Thursday for mine. I’m hoping for Vizio love today.
I didn’t receive an email, but in checking my Vizio account it has updated from “Processing” to “Complete” By clicking in there I was able to find a FedEx Tracking Number. It was indeed shipped yesterday on the 14th from Bloomington, CA. Shippied via FedEx’s SmartPost method. Being an East Coaster… I should get to finally see this box… oh next week.
I didn’t get a shipping notification by my order status changed to “Complete” and I have tracking number.
Order was completed and my boxes shipped yesterday on the 14th. No estimated delivery yet, but I have a FedEx tracking #
I just checked my order number with on-line chat and they gave me a tracking # for FedEx. It’s in Cali, but hasn’t made it’s way over to Ohio yet. But, confirmed on the way! No email yet though.
I’ve got a tracking number too!! No tracking info yet – but looks I’m hoping I’ll have it by the weekend. When will the reviews start popping up??
The tracking # is a fedex number. You can find your info by checking directly through fedex
what date did it show your order
I just had live chat with Vizio. They gave me the following site & instructions = https://www.fedex.com/AltRefTracking. In the bigger box that says Enter reference:
type in your order number. Set the Destination country to US and then in
Destination Postal Code put your zip code. Click Track
I was able to track my order using my order # – see attached screen shot
^ everyone make sure to check your spam box, mine shiwed up in there for some reason.
Vizio screwed up the shipping address and now my CoStar is being returned to Sender. And neither FedEX or USPS can give me any information about the package!!!
Oh God, shipped via Fedex Smart Post. I cringe every time I hear that.
yes, so far, its been a disaster dealing with “Smart Post”
Still waiting on mine :(
Was just told all pre-orders should be filled by the end of next week. Looks like you guys will be playing long before me :) I look forward to reading you reviews.
Confirmed shipping via Fedex. Package has already departed the Fedex hub (bloomington, CA) near my house. Delivery should be today.
Check that… delivery set for tomororw.
For those who did not get in on the first batch, my card was just charged yesterday for my preorder, so I’d guess the second batch will follow close behind.
It has left FedEx facility and is in transit. Been waiting since it was announced at CES. Yipee!
I just got my email confirmation 10 minutes ago. Funny, I was checkin the web to see if any had shipped and I saw this site earlier today.
Mine shipped too… can’t wait to try it!
Why does my malware software go off when I try to access Vizio’s site?
Yeah saw that this morning. It’s gone now though.
i cant access the vizio website
Anyone get theirs today?
I’m waiting for preorders to return and then ordering mine. If anyone got theirs already could you do a youtube review? Thanks.
Did anybody else get a shipping confirmation email that says “Total: $0.00″ and not get charged?
I did. That is why I’m on here. Haha. Seeing what’s up with that. My tracking shows it is on the way but I have yet to be charged. When I first placed the order my account was charged temporarily but that charge disappeared shortly after that. Strange!
Scott, the exact same thing happened to me.
Same here, that’d be awesome if it was free? lol
Exactly the same thing happened…now there’s no hold on my card. Not sure if they’ll charge though I hope not.
I got mine, and I have to say I don’t really like it. I’ve never had a Google TV, but I did have a roku, and I’ve got to say, the Roku is WAY better. It has Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, Crackle, Plex, and Epix. The Vizio Co-Star only has a Netflix app, for Amazon Instant Video it opens the web browser. The M-Go on the remote doesn’t work yet, and Hulu doesn’t work, and yes I’ve tried sideloading it and it just force closes instantly. I think I’m just going to request a refund.
You shouldn’t be an early adopter if you’re not patient enough to wait for big fixes, or a device being a work in progress.
I don’t mind being an early adopter at all, I preordered the Roku 2, and I also purchased the GSM Galaxy Nexus the week it came out. Both had bugs and both got updates that increased their functionality. But it might be Google TV itself that I have an issue with, I don’t think that it has enough functionality yet. Compared to the Roku, which has, as I stated before, Netflix, Hulu, Crackle, Plex, and countless other channels to watch videos, while I still cannot get Hulu to work. I just currently feel that at this stage Roku is far ahead of Google TV. Watching movies and tv shows on the Co-Star is too difficult for the average user. There are too many steps required. Hardware looks great though.
Have you tried going into Google Play Store and searching for those apps? While you are at look for Navi-X, lots of stuff on it.
Yes I did, the Amazon Video app doesn’t exist in the market even for phones, Hulu we all know doesn’t work, Crackle doesn’t have an app either, I haven’t checked for Plex but that one is low on my priorities list. I’ll have a look at Navi-X.
Flash, one thing about the Vizio is that it does have its own DLNA app in the menu. So unless you need PLEX to transcode the video, it can play most file types that most of the WHS and NAS DLNA servers can dish out.
Flash, I am with you. This isn’t just a problem with early adoption, but rather design. A major part of any 10′ experience, for me, is the remote and the Co-Star’s remote is just AWFUL. The lack of any backlight makes it impossible to use in a dark, or even a fairly dim, room. The fact that you have to hold (not tap, but actually hold) the FN key when you are typing in numbers or symbols is terribly wonky. The thick “brick” belies the actual weight of the thing. (In other words, must it really be THAT thick if it’s as light as it is?)
Yes, as an early adopter I am also bothered by issues that will obviously be fixed at some point. When passing my TIVO through the Co-Star, I am able to supposedly control it with the Co-Star’s remote. To do so, I have to select the TIVO model, which the Co-Star seems to have in its list of components. However, the buttons don’t actually work. If you want to manually IR codes, they ask for a four-digit code, but they don’t supply a table of them anywhere. These types of errors make me think Vizio rushed the thing to market without much QC. Isn’t anyone else tired of companies rushing products to market with the caveat that all can be fixed sometime after release?
I just feel like the whole GTV thing is just plain ill-thought-out. The M-Go thing, being a feature that they trumpet yet isn’t in release, is just an indicator. I really have to think twice about whether the marriage of the web and TV really is a worthy goal, anyway. With the advent of tablets, do any of us even want to use the TV to browse the web? When that’s gone, what is left of GTV? It’s then just a glorified ROKU with access to games. Thus far, none of the GTV devices have really done well, so you have to wonder if the underlying technology is just too flawed to succeed.
I may hate Apple as a company, but I truly have to wonder if they’ve “cracked” the TV as they said they have. I’d love to see their take on this concept.
y’day morning I read about someone receiving it and disliking it because of lack of application in this forum.. now thats gone.. I was looking for more inputs to decide whether to go for it or not..
Anyone got and tried it ????
where are the reviews??
Has anyone received their Co-Star yet?
Got my confirmation in the mail friday…why does it have to be FedEx post :( My mail man hates bringing the package to the door. He always waits a day then gets a bunch of mail and does it.
I know the supported codecs does not list xvid or divx but has anyone
tried to play them? My buying this product completely hinges on whether
or not I can play my entire collection without issue. I’m not sure if
when XBMC is made available for it if that will actually expand the
codecs supported or if it will be limited to what the device can play
out of the box. Anybody have any information on this?

I have been using and It is just awesome… :)
My package never arrived. It was sent via Fedex Smartpost and the tracking shows it was delivered to my home. But it was not. I was home at the time of delivery and received regular mail, but not the order from Visio.
WARNING: Fedex does not guarantee delivery on Smartpost shipping and so far the USPS will not accept responsibility because it is a Fedex tracking number.
I have talked to Visio support, Fedex, and the USPS and no one will take responsibility for NON-delivery. I may be out the full amount of my purchase and not happy about it. My next Vizio Co Star will be a ROKU!
