In lieu of the quietness that comes before the storm of what is to be the Sony Ericsson “What’s Next” campaign, the void is filling with video snippets of the device itself along with conceptual ‘mediascape’ footage of the Rachael User Interface that is part of what makes this device so special. Very little is known about the phone itself and much of the hype that surrounds the Sony Ericcson Xperia X10 (perhaps soon to be Infinity) has grown from the custom build of Android that SE are designing. So custom in fact, very little of Android itself appears to remain.
Speculation suggests that the X10 will be based on a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, putting the device immediately in the ring with the heavy weights including the up-and-coming Motorola Droid. Sony Ericsson are well known for their CyberShot range and Walkman devices, and although it will be no surprise to see these brands dropped, the quality of camera and media/music functionality should be top notch. Indeed, the device is believed to sport an 8 mega-pixel camera and judging from the ‘mediascape’ YouTube footage after the jump, the music and video side of things also appear to have been taken of care of in top fashion. Throw in a quad-band (850/900/1800/1900) GSM with dual-band (900/2100) 3G: 10 Mbps HSDPA and 2 Mbps HSUPA, Wi-Fi g and Bluetooth 2.1 and you’ll have to stop me clambering at the factory fences to get one for review. Now, I wonder whether this build is running on Android 2.0? Anyway, a host of Rachel and X10 videos after the jump to keep you entertained until tomorrow.
