Earlier today we told you that Apple issued its September 12 event media invitation, coincidently a day ahead of Nokia’s and Motorola’s independent media events, and two days before Amazon’s presser.
Now, only a few hours later we’ll tell you that HTC also decided to step up to the plate today and announce its own September media event, which is scheduled for September 19. Unfortunately for HTC, its invitations were dropped off in the mail after Apple’s invites were sent, thus the Taiwan-based Android device maker lost out on extra buzz around the event.
Not to mention that on September 18, a day ahead of HTC’s event, Motorola has its second presentation in as many weeks, where it’s expected to unveil its first Intel-based Android creations.
On the bright side, the word on the street is that HTC could unveil its own phablet two weeks from now. The 5-inch device we’ve seen recently in leaked photos and which is reportedly heading to Verizon could be made official during the event – will it be part of the One family? Is it some kind of One XL handset?
It’s too early to tell, so we’ll have to wait for the New York-based HTC event to find out more details.
CNET speculates that HTC could also dedicate the event to its own upcoming Windows Phone 8 devices, which is another possibility considered that Samsung has already unveiled its Ativ S WP8 handset during its IFA 2012 Unpacked event, and that Nokia will unveil its own models tomorrow.
Getting back to the HTC phablet – in case you’re interested in this rumored Android beast, you’ll have to know the HTC device is rumored to sport a 1920 x 1080 HD resolution, 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, Adreno 320 GPU, Beats audio and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC Sense 4.0 on top under the hood. Any takers?
