Verizon Galaxy Nexus Gets A Release Date, Pre-Order Too?

Remember the Galaxy Nexus? How about the Verizon Exclusive Galaxy Nexus? After a month since its announcement and the rumors circulated, we are all still left without any details on how to get our hands on the hottest Android device and possibly the best new smartphone.

Although it is still unofficial, (considering Black Friday and Cyber Monday have come and gone), Computer World has reason to believe that the Verizon branded LTE Galaxy Nexus is finally coming to Earth on December 8; with available pre-orders starting on November 29. They have used “micdawg” as a source:

Last week I sent an email to Verizon letting them know how disgusted I was with the way they have handled the launch of the galaxy nexus. After multiple emails back and forth…I got a text message saying “this is [name redacted] from Verizon wireless I will be calling in a couple minutes from a 678 area code number”.

When she called me I explained to her my issues. … She then said “Well Mr. Peak, I can assure you, it won’t be long. Preorders are set to start Tuesday (November 29th). And the phone will be released Dec. 8th.” She also then said she was going to get ahold of my local store to make sure they called me as soon as they got one in, and held one for me to ensure I got one in the first Wave. Which I thought sounded like ********. But low and behold, Saturday night around 6pm I got a call from the Verizon store 1 town over (she apparently didn’t Google the closest..) and they have my name down and are saving me a nexus, and will hold it for 2 days past release for me.

In addition to the great news about the release and pre-order, Verizon has all but confirmed the Galaxy Nexus price. However, they accidentally let this slip out of their offices.

I suggest you people should get the unlocked version if you can afford it

Unlocked LTE or the other international version whose initials I can’t remember at the moment?

can’t use the unlocked version on Verizon unfortunately and I’m not switching carriers at this point. No choice but to wait it out, no matter how painful it may be.

If it’s $200, I’m pre-ordering for sure! If it’s $300, I’m waiting until January CES announcements. Verizon really screwed the pooch on this one.

It’s Nov 29 and I see no Nexus on their website.

I think this is the only Droid phone on Verizon that would prevent me from buying an iphone. VZ needs to hurry up.

      • Annoyed Verizon Customer

Verizon sells iPhones too. I don’t see why your threat to buy an iPhone over a Galaxy Nexus or any other device would make Verizon want to get this phone out any quicker.

But there will only be a 299 version of 32gb. He could easily get the 16gb 4S and lose them $100.

do you think this is better then the droid razr? if so why?

    • Jacob Buettgenbach

liar there is no pre-order today!

    • Chris Carter

Why do you assholes keep lying about what you were told by Verizon, you knew damn well it was a lie when you posted it here. Just shut the fuck up and we will all wait.

Why are you using Profanities here, I dont see the usefulness or purpose other than the fact that it is offensive to many, including myself.
Does anyone know how stable a device the Nexus will be? What about the stock Mail app (I use RoadRunner) or the Phone logs. Does the Native mail app have a Select all button? what about a undo button? is it quick and easy to dump trash, or is it a tedious and manual box checking job?
      Thank you in advance

wrong again way to lose the readers trust.

      • Tom

No… not wrong again… I see no evidence that states this came from the PR Department, but instead a Customer Service Representative. If it came from Verizon’s PR department, I would agree, but Verizon keeps their lower level employees in the dark almost as much as they do their customers.

I chatted to Verizon CS yesterday and they said they have been told Dec 3. When I asked about a pre-orders I got the we havn’t been told that.
