Motorola-Electrify-2-US-Cellular

The Motorola Electrify 2 was launched in August of last year on U.S. Cellular. Following the arrival of Jelly Bean on its next of kin, the Electrify M, the same Android 4.1.2 upgrade is now rolling out to the Electrify 2.

The software update will be pushed out to the device in phases, which means you won’t be seeing it right away, unless you’re very lucky. Once you’ve made the jump to the new 9.8.3O-118-14 firmware, you’ll be able to enjoy the many awesome features that Jelly Bean has to offer, such as Project Butter, expanded notifications, Voice Search, Google Now, and more.

If you’re not too familiar yet with Google’s excellent personal assistant, you may want to read our Google Now guide, which should make for a good starting point as to how the feature can help get you the information you need automatically.

Back to the Jelly Bean update, let us know in the comments below whether you’ve received it or not.

I have the ability to update to JB, the issue I am running into is it fails. Might be because I have it rooted.

My phone updated last night. So far everything works great. Many new features.

This update caused havoc…entire phonebook lost, have to resync all e-mails, THE BUTTON TO DISABLE MOBILE DATA USAGE IS GONE…and it wiped out my data restriction that I’d set to avoid going over my plan and getting hit with fees. I’m really looking forward to fighting that battle with the wonderful (sarcasm) people at US Cellular. If I were you, I’d avoid the update.

I am also having some of the same issues as Greg. My data was off when I downloaded JB and now I cant turn it back on. But my data chart is counting the data I am using on wifi. My other phone the data was on and we cant turn it off using extreme amount of data!

Greg, you’re right! Here are the issues that I have found, thus far, with the Jelly Bean Upgrade (?):
    1) Slick looking weather app with all the nice graphics is gone.
    2) The switch to turn off Data was removed, so data is on constantly.
    3) The FM Radio is gone.
I am very angry about this. These three items weighed in my decision to buy this phone and now they have been taken away.

  • not happy with jb

The upgrade caused my wifi to have problems. I can no longer connect to my home network and I had no problems before the upgrade. No matter what I do I still can not connect to my home network. JB upgrade bad….Motorola and andriod need to come up with a fix
