A few days ago, the first unofficial Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat build was released, and those brave enough to test it have discovered that the test OS has a bad surprise under the hood – it breaks the SuperSU’s functionality.
The app allows users to better manage their rooted devices, and while the unofficial KitKat update for the handset messed something up, SuperSU’s creator has quickly come to the rescue with an update for the app. Chainfire said on Google+ that he “hacked together a minor update” to make SuperSU work again on the Galaxy S4, although version 1.89 will not be available on the Google Play Store just yet – instead, check out the Source links below to get the latest version:
I’m not sure yet whether this version will hit the Play Store or not. The only change is Samsung 4.4 compatibility, and there’s only one leaked ROM out for that at this time. This update triggers a binary update, and there’s always some people losing root in that process, so I’m not sure I’ll go there until some more ROMs with this turn up, or I have another reason to update.
Since Samsung is still to release the official KitKat update for the Galaxy S4, it’s likely that we’ll see more KitKat test versions roll out, which could further break SuperSU. We would expect the Play Store versions of the app to be updated once Samsung comes out with a final Android 4.4 update for its 2013 flagship handset.
Have you installed the unofficial KitKat build version on your Galaxy S4?

They may have done it on purpose
I hate that. It is very likely that they did it on purpose, trying to restrict our freedom!!
Patience is a virtue !!!!!

It is mid – January, so as I do not want to root my S4, will look forward to getting the debugged one from Samsung late this month or early Feb.
