Twidroyd updated to 6.0; “Biggest Release Ever,” says Developer
With Twitter being the top microblogging service around, there is surely no shortage of apps dedicated to it. Twidroyd, however, stands out from the rest with its innovative features and updates. Just recently, the leading full-featured Twitter client for Android massively updated the app, dubbed by the developer UberMedia as the “biggest release ever” for Twidroyd, and users cannot agree more, with 4.2 stars out of 5 rating in the Android Market.
Originally, the app boasts of being the only Twitter-client app that can load websites and photos directly in the app, skipping the need for opening a browser. With the update, more awesome features were added, including UberBar, a fully customizable navigation bar for the app; a new login method in line with the OAuth; an option to show the exact timestamp; and an automatic inclusion of a retweeter’s user name on the compose reply space.
It’s as if you’re using the web version with Twidroyd 6.0, which now asks before deleting a tweet, has an auto-shorten option for tweets, and various locations for trending topics. Another relevant update is the t.co support for shortening links and lockerz.com update for viewing, commenting, and voting for tweeted images. The updates go on and on, and the complete list can be viewed here.
Too good to be true? Well, among all these developments, there’s just one small but significant thing users are not really flattered with – the app icon. “Best Twitter app around. New icon however is hideous,” comments one user on the Android Market.
