Truphone Anywhere coming for Germany and Austria

Truphone Anywhere coming for Germany and Austria

Yesterday Truphone announced that a version of its Truphone Anywhere, a hybrid-VoIP service that routes calls over lower-cost local connections, will be available for German speakers in March once the T-Mobile G1 goes on sale in Germany and Austria.  The application is already available on the U.S. and U.K. versions of the Android Market.

Truphone Anywhere routes international calls through a local gateway phone number that then connects the call to servers in other countries over an Internet connection, which saves users money.  Unlike the regular Truphone app that is available for some other smartphone platforms, Truphone Anywhere is not a native VoIP application and still requires a local phone call to be made.

More information is available at the Truphone website.
