The partnership between The Creative Assembly and Sega has been on a roll for the past few years, as the two companies continue to push out some of the best strategy games around. The Total War series has long been a great blend of turn-based strategy and turn-based combat. After their first delve into the mobile world with Total War Battles: Shogun, the companies are back with a new game, Total War Battles: Kingdom.

Sega and The Creative Assembly have just announced their plans to bring Kingdom to Android tablets, but not without first making it available to beta testers. Unfortunately, Total War Battles: Kingdom will only be available in closed beta to Windows PC owners, then will likely be available for Android tablets soon afterwards.

The game is set during the turn of the 10th century, where Europe begins to emerge from the Dark Ages at war. As a player, it’s your job to restore lands, recruit armies, and contest the throne. As your army grows, you’ll take on other lords in massed wars to fight for the throne. It aims to build off of the success from Total War Battles: Shogun both graphically and with improved gameplay.

As the Android release date has yet to be announced, you can get a first-hand look at the upcoming Android tablet version by signing up for the Windows closed beta. Obviously controls and graphics will be much different when the game is ported over to Android, but it will give you a good idea of what you’re in for.
