In its “2013 in Searches” report (Google Zeitgeist 2013,) Google has a Consumer Electronics section in which you’ll find four popular Android devices, with two of them included in the top 5, the Galaxy S4 and the Nexus 5.

In fact, only three items in the top 10 are not smartphones, although one of them is a mobile device – these are the PlayStation 4 (third spot), Xbox One (fourth spot) and iPad Air (seventh spot).

The top spot belongs to the iPhone 5S, which is followed by the Galaxy S4 (second place) and Nexus 5 (fifth place). The HTC One and Galaxy Note 3 also make the top 10, on places six and nine, respectively. Interestingly, BlackBerry 10 is on eight position, while the Lumia 1020 is on the tenth.

Of the Android devices that made the top 10 consumer electronics searches on Google, the Galaxy S4 is the only handset that’s also in the Top Trending list. The smartphone is present on the eight place, while the only other phone in the same list is Apple’s iPhone 5S on third place.

Google’s Zeitgeist 2013 report includes other results, showing top 10 searches for People, Events, Athletes, Google+ Hashtags – Android isn’t one of the top 10 ones -, movies Performing Artists, TV Shows and Videos (see Source links below).

Obviously the 5th place goes to the Nexus 5.

While the Nexus 5 may not have the most searches, I am happy to see that it is receiving a bit of attention. It is a great phone that I wish more people knew about. Also, people are still doing the Harlem Shake?

The s4, I have one and it’s a top phone works well with everything , . There are faster and bigger phones out there, reliability is key and it is , even though it’s heavily criticised, my only flag is the charging socket could be a bit more stable.

does rank in searches equal rank in sales? how close is blackberrys search rank to its actual sales?

  • Cal Rankin

This is interesting. Overall, the CNET 100 had a study where the most buzzed-about product on the internet was the Nexus 5 (iPad Air was #2)
