We’ve seen an entire slew of special deals for on-contract Android smartphones in the U.S. lately, but today it’s time to turn our attention to a discount of an unlocked SIM-free handheld in the UK. The HTC One X is the protagonist of this limited offer, which will expire in only a matter of hours.
Expansys UK is offering the One X for £379.99 with free shipping, which is one heck of a deal for one heck of a phone. The £380 would translate into around $615 at today’s conversion rates, which might seem a lot for those of you reading us from the States, but that's almost £200 less than the phone’s UK list price at the time of its release several months ago.
It’s also between £50 and £100 less than what other British retailers are currently asking for the HTC One X, so what more could you ask for?
The special offer hasn’t exactly fallen down from the sky though, with HTC being only two days away from a New York City unveiling event. Many rumors lately point towards the launching of an updated One X, most likely called One X+, so you can understand why is HTC all of a sudden keen on getting rid of as many “old” phones as possible.
Then again, the One X is far from what we would call an outdated piece of technology, being still seen by many as the number two smartphone in the world, behind the Samsung Galaxy S3. The model on sale at Expansys is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, thought to be slightly slower than the US edition packing a Snapdragon S4 CPU, but in reality you probably won’t be able to tell the difference.
There’s 1GB of RAM under the phone’s hood, 32GB of on-board storage, Android 4.0 ICS out of the box (with a Jelly Bean update soon to come), a 4.7-inch S-LCD display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution, dual 8MP / 1.3MP cameras, and a 1,800mAh battery.
The design is also pretty special, while in terms of connectivity you can rely on WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and HSPA+. You can go get the discounted “polar white” HTC One X at Expansys right now, with the deal set to expire at 11 PM UK time (BST) today. Good luck being able to score one of the discounted phones, and don't forget to check back to us the day after tomorrow for the almost certain announcement of the One X+.
