Back in February we promised to let you know once we heard anything new from LG regarding their Android offerings. Well, in an interview with Dow Jones Newswires, Chang Ma (vice president of marketing strategy for mobile communications) suggested that not only is the “The market [...] actually holding up versus last year…”, but LG are planning to release up to three different Android based devices in Q3/Q4 of this year, with a few more due to land in 2010.
One thing LG promised not to do was cut prices for the sake of expanding its market share in handsets. This would ultimately result in weaker handsets and less incentive for LG to perform to their best in terms of technology. Using Android is already one way in which LG are cutting costs, proving that Google timed things perfectly with the release of the OS relative to the recession. Short but sweet, we’ll make sure to let you know once we have specifics on the Android devices.
