Interfax.cn is reporting that earlier today an official from TechFaith Wireless said that his company expects to launch its first Android OS powered smartphone soon.  He said that it is “not likely” to be launched in 2008, which means we should probably see it in early 2009.

TechFaith Wireless is best known for building devices on behalf of other companies, which means that we will likely see its Android smartphone bearing some other manufacturer’s name.  TechFaith claimed to be in talks with several potential customers for the phone.
