We’re sure everyone has that moment when they wish that their smartphone was built like a tank and came with a waterproof body; you know, something along the lines of the Sony Xperia Go. What we’ve seen so far concerning Sony’s rugged smartphone is that not only can it take some serious beating, but it also plays nice with water.
If you haven’t been enamored with the black Xperia Go, the white variant is now available in the UK.
The white Xperia Go will be offered SIM-free by mobile retailer Clove starting August 7 for £210 (tax included). For that amount of money, you’ll get the unlocked Xperia Go and some peace of mind when out and about. It’s slightly more [...]
The market for affordable entry-level phones with dual-SIM capabilities might not seem too promising in the US, but in Europe and Asia, there is quite the competition over the niche. And where there’s competition, Samsung absolutely has to play an important part in it.
The Galaxy Ace Duos is Sammy’s latest dual SIM low-ender, but, surprisingly, it hasn’t kicked it off to the best of starts. Unveiled back in May, the cheapo 3.5-incher has only been made available in India until now.
Starting today, however, the Ace Duos has managed to break outside of India, making in into the UK. Mobi-City and Amazon are the two British retailers offering the petite phone for [...]
Although it was supposed to start selling in the UK more than three weeks ago, the Samsung Galaxy Beam phone/pico projector is only now up for grabs for the wide public. We don’t know exactly what was the problem with Expansys’ stocks at the beginning of the month, but what we do know is that at least 15 unlucky tech users who didn’t manage to get a Beam then can do so now.
That’s how much units Expansys UK is claiming to have in its stocks, and it might be enough for a day or two. After that, there’s no way to know what will happen, but it’s more than likely that a couple hundred extra Galaxy Beams or so will pop up.
In fact, Samsung has only announced the sale [...]
As you might now, Apple suffered a humiliating defeat in court a couple of weeks back, when British judge Colin Birss ruled that Samsung has not infringed on the design of the iPad with the Samsung Galaxy Tab (apparently, the Tab is “not as cool”). Moreover, it was later revealed that Apple suffered an even more crushing blow, although this one would only affect its vanity.
Apple has been ordered by the court to publicly acknowledge that Samsung did not copy the iPad, by posting a notice on its website (and keeping if for six months) and paying for a similar advertisement in several British publications.
In other words, Apple was forced to admit failure, in a [...]
Now that’s an embarrassing mistake. Samsung has mistakenly pushed the local search removal update to the Galaxy S3 in the United Kingdom. Better known as the dumb search update, the patch removes the possibility to search for local contacts, apps, and other items on the Galaxy S3. Users are left with the basic web search, although a number of workarounds exist.
Yesterday, Samsung acknowledged that it inadvertently pushed the dumb search update to devices in the UK and promised to repair the problem within the next few days. It seems that they were pretty quick about it, because the new firmware, which restores local search, is now available as an OTA and via [...]
ASUS UK took to Twitter today to announce that its much awaited Transformer Pad Infinity (TF700) will be gracing the shores of the British Isles on August 31.
Brits will have to wait a bit longer than their cousins down under – we reported yesterday that ASUS Australia has sent out invites for the launch event of the Transformer Pad Infinity on August 7. Moreover, the Infinity has been available in the US from July 16.
To add injury to the insult, UK-residents will have to put up with a stinging price tag. The 64GB version of the Pad Infinity will go for £599 (about $930), with the keyboard dock included. For comparison, the same model is available across the [...]
In terms of impact, the Nexus 7 is, without doubt, the device of this summer. The $199 7-inch tablet packs offers incredible value, and all the reviewers, with almost no exception, have praised it as a game changer.
Customers seem to agree. The Nexus 7 has been flying off the shelves and many American retailers have ran out of stock by now, just a few days from its official launch. But the first Google Nexus tablet is also selling in the UK and Australia. The device has already started shipping down-under, while in the UK only Ebuyer shipped out pre-orders last Friday, with other retailers shipping the tablet today. But Google Play Store sales are yet to be [...]
UK folks, the days of yearning for Google Nexus 7 will be behind you soon. The 7-inch slate is now up for pre-order on Dixons Group’s online stores, which means you’ll be able to secure your unit of the Nexus 7 from the likes of PC World, Currys and Dixons and get it possibly before others do. For now, only the 16GB model of the tablet is available to pre-order, while the 8GB model is nowhere to be seen. As expected, the former will cost £199.99.
According to their websites, if you pre-order the quad-core Nexus 7 tablet now, there’s a good chance that you will receive the tablet by July 19.
The Google Nexus 7 tablet is expected to officially touch down in the [...]
Update- We have just launched the best Android tablets of 2013 series.
The Google Nexus 7 is one of the best Android tablets of the year and definitely a tough adversary for this year’s Kindle Fire versions. At the same time, the device is not an iPad-killer, it’s not even intended to be one, and, moreover, it may do a lot more harm within the Android tablet ecosystems, as other OEMs will not be able to replicate Google’s current tablet strategy.
The Nexus 7 is an affordable device that packs quite a punch under the hood and is able to offer users access to Google’s latest operating system, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, right out of the [...]
So far, we’ve only had all Android manufacturers combined beat Apple when it comes to smartphone sales. They do it by a significant number every quarter (around twice the number of iPhone sales or so), but it’s still all of them together against Apple. However, with every iteration of the Galaxy S series, Samsung gets closer and closer to selling as many Galaxy S devices as Apple is selling iPhones. Note that I’m only talking about the Galaxy S devices, but the company has many other models in the mid and low ranges, and, in total, Samsung Android handsets already outsell Apple’s iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS.
It appears that during the [...]
