The T-mobile G1 officially arrived in the UK yesterday. Customers could be seen lined up in front of T-Mobile shops across the UK, eagerly awaiting their very own black (or white) G1s. The UK version of the device comes free with a ÂŁ40 per month contract and is available in black or white as opposed to the USA’s bronze, white, or black. We have no idea why the UK gets different colors, but there you go. Oh, they also get a 2gig memory card too.

It appears that the T-Mobile G1 will make it to markets outside of the U.S. quicker than we had anticipated. The UK’s RegHardware.co.uk is reporting that T-Mobile UK has stated that the G1 Android smartphone will be available to UK consumers on October 30th, a mere 15 days from now. It will be available for free to users that sign up for a 40GBP Combi or Flext plan, both of which will offer unlimited browsing and some combination of minutes and text messages. Google has finally taken the wraps off its first Android phone, the G1 from T-Mobile. The new smartphone runs on Google’s open source software, exclusive to T-Mobile in the States and the UK. The HTC manufactured G1 offers connectivity for global use with GSM support as well as 3G UMTS/HSDPA connectivity (GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz, UMTS 1700/2100MHz). WiFi is also on board. Full HTML web browsing with tap to zoom is available on the new smartphone along with a bevy of Google apps including Google Maps with a compass mode. Spaghetti Cat says “Inconclusive” Britain’s Telegraph.co.uk is reporting that the HTC Dream, likely the first Android based smartphone to hit the market, will be sold in the UK exclusively through T-Mobile UK. The Telegraph is reporting that the phone will be launched as “early as November”. The story makes no mention at all of sources, anonymous or otherwise, and looks somewhat dubious.
