Temple Run hits 100M downloads in its first year

by: J. Angelo RacomaAugust 3, 2012

Folks, it seems we have yet another addicting smartphone and tablet game on our hands. A year after its launch, Temple Run has had 100 million idol-snatching fans out there eager to collect coins while dodging wild demonic monkey attacks. Imangi Studios has just confirmed that a third of these are Android users. To be exact, 32 million of these downloads are from Android devices, while 68 million are from iOS.

Since August 2011, more than 10 billion sessions of the game have been played, which results in an average of about 100 games per user. Imangi says these amount to almost 54,000 person-years spent playing. That’s a lot of years [...]

Imangi and Disney collaborate on Temple Run: Brave, out now on Google Play

by: Bams SadewoJune 15, 2012

In yet another game and movie tie-in, Imangi has teamed up with Disney to release Temple Run: Brave, the sequel to the wildly popular game Temple Run.

In Temple Run: Brave, you will be taking on the role of the bright-haired Merida. She’s the main character on the upcoming Disney animated feature Brave, who happens to be a skilled archer. Instead of running away from evil monkeys, you’ll be running for your life to avoid the wrath of the demon bear Mordu.

Temple Run: a quick review and what’s to come

by: Ankit BanerjeeJune 6, 2012

Almost every high-end Android smartphone released this year will feature a quad-core processor and with the announcement of project “Kai” by Nvidia, it looks like in the tablet arena, this might be true for even low-cost devices. Along with the increasingly common availability of high-resolution HD displays and the advances in processor technology, gaming on a handheld device has become an incredibly popular activity.

We are seeing the growing trend of optimizing classic PC games for handheld devices, with made-for-mobile games also becoming more graphic-intensive, and featuring full story-lines and “campaign” modes. But sometimes, it is the [...]

Temple Run gets the Disney treatment in Temple Run: Brave

by: Arnold ZafraJune 5, 2012

Good news for Temple Run fans. In preparation for the release of  the latest Pixar flick, Brave, Disney has joined forces with Temple Run makers Imangi Studios to give the cult game a new twist.  And by twist, we mean a new game – Temple Run: Brave.

The folks at Inside Mobile Apps who were able to play Temple Run: Brave during a private preview event last week said that the game is very similar to the “original” Temple Run. Obviously, the original main character was replaced by Merida, the heroine of Pixar’s movie.

The gameplay remains the same, with Merida continously running along various paths, with a demonic bear named Mordru [...]

Temple Run updated to fix problems with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

by: Gary SimsMay 18, 2012

I am not a huge gaming fan, probably because I just don’t have enough time. But there are moments like standing in a queue or waiting for someone, when a little mindless distraction is welcomed. And that is where Temple Run comes in.

It isn’t complicated, it doesn’t take hours of game play to get somewhere and you don’t need to invest your life into it. In case you have’t play it, Temple Run is a simple endless running maze game. You need to escape from some nasty looking Monkeys who are upset because you stole some treasure from the temple. The gameplay is simple – swipe left to turn left, swipe right to turn right, and so [...]

Temple Run gets Twitter update, hits 10 million downloads. What’s your score?

by: Bams SadewoApril 19, 2012

Temple Run, known as the running game that set Google Play ablaze, has hit the all-important 10 million downloads mark. This is an incredible feat for a game that’s only been available for less than a month on the Android platform.

To celebrate the milestone, Temple Run’s game developer, Imangi Studios, has decided to update the app by adding a new social media feature, as well as by fixing some bugs. Thanks to newly implemented Twitter integration, you can now flex your narcisstic top-score sharing tendencies easily amongst yourtwiends. As for the bugs, they have fixed a bug that makes it harder to get points, a bug that made the runner accelerate too fast, and a host [...]

Temple Run is now a free download on Google Play

by: Bams SadewoMarch 27, 2012

Temple Run, the ridiculously popular iOS game that has been downloaded over 40 million times, is finally making its way to Android platform.  Having been promised for a February release by the game developer, we don’t mind the one month delay if it means finally experiencing first-hand what people on the dark other side have been raving about. 40 million people can’t be wrong, surely? As is usually the case, Temple Run can be downloaded for free on the Google Play Store. Be careful though, as you may end up breaking your piggy bank on in-app purchases of coins to get extra power-ups, different wallpapers and unlock secret characters. The game basically involves you making an [...]

Temple Run, one of the most popular free games in the Apple App Store, will soon make its debut on Android as well. According to developer Imangi Studios, the Temple Run Android release date will be March 27, although the game was previously supposed to reach Google’s mobile OS in February.

The endless gameplay of Temple Run is fairly simple by nature: collect as many gold coins as you can, using gestures to jump, slide, duck, and run, while evading the evil monkeys guarding the temple and all the obstacles in your path. Here is a YouTube video showcasing the Temple Run gameplay:
