Unveiled back in February at the MWC, Sony’s Xperia P and Xperia U Android-based smartphones didn’t exactly look like a duo to die for. With beautiful designs, but rather modest specs and an almost inexplicable ICS omission, the two devices were received with mixed feelings by pundits and regular users. And if the lackluster innards of the two Xperias didn’t provide enough reasons for dissatisfaction, the Xperia P and U have just had their UK release delayed.
Initially set to hit the British market on May 7, the two sleek gadgets from Sony will start shipping three weeks later, on May 28. If you’re still bent to purchase one of these thingies and this new delay [...]
After struggling for much of last year in satiating the public’s growing hunger for bigger, better, and faster Android devices, a reenergized Sony Mobile is hoping to turn things around in 2012 with its new line of Xperia devices. It remains to be seen whether the Xperia portfolio can do for Sony what the Galaxy did for Samsung, but expanding the reach of the devices in a hotly contested market is a surefire way to send the signal that Sony’s not going down without putting up a fight.
Working with Brightstar, a specialized wireless distributor in the US, the deal will see three new Sony smartphones become available for customers, which include the Xperia S, Xperia P, [...]
Last night, Sony showed us the newest members of its Xperia NXT series, the Xperia U and Xperia P. The new NXT brand, launched at CES with the Xperia S, embodies Sony’s commitment to change the image of its ill-fated mobile products. Just ten days ago, the Japanese have finally signed the divorce papers with Ericsson, and now Sony is ready to shine again on its own. The new U and P devices are the first phones to bear the Sony logo (Xperia S still used the Sony Ericsson branding.)
The Xperia U and Xperia P share a sleek and minimalistic design philosophy, and are very similar in appearance to the previously-introduced Xperia S. All three phones have [...]
After last night’s post on SmarTags app for the Sony Xperia S, we have even more exciting news for those waiting for the device (myself included). A few leaked photos of the device have been found by an Italian blog called Android HD blog. Sitting beside it is its smaller sibling, the Xperia U; which was previously called the Sony Kumquat. Compared with the Xperia S, the Xperia U still bears the name ‘Sony Ericsson.’ By now, you probably know that Sony Ericsson is no longer a unified brand. These devices are only called Sony now. Perhaps, Sony still plans to change it?
Anyway, we’re pretty excited to see more information or even leaked photos of the Xperia S alone and [...]
Is the Sony Ericsson Kumquat getting a new name? Well at least we won’t have a hard time pronouncing the Kumquat name!
Based on a tipster from GSMArena, the recently leaked real life photos of the Sony Kumquat have been revealed with a different name on an Indonesian website. According to the tipster, the smartphone was referred to as the Sony Xperia U on the Indonesian website; which served as a counterpart of the US’s very own FCC.
Bearing features such as a 480x854p resolution, 3.5-inch display, 1GHz dual-core processor, and a 5MP rear camera; the Sony Xperia U was also linked to a Chinese site. This gave speculation on whether or not the Xperia U will be [...]
