Sony starts selling unlocked Xperia acro S, miro, tipo and tipo dual in the US

by: AdrianSeptember 22, 2012
The Xperia acro S, miro, tipo and tipo dual each have their selling points and a certain wow factor, but unfortunately they are all only available for sale in unlocked versions. That means you’ll have to scrape together more than just a few pennies to get the phones, although the upside is you won’t tie yourself to a long-term carrier agreement.

Entry-level Sony Xperia Tipo to hit O2 and Orange UK in August, pricing not yet revealed

by: AdrianJuly 30, 2012

All eyes might be fixed on Sony’s upcoming high-end Hayabusa and Mint smartphones, but the company is also planning to strengthen its entry-level line-up, too. The Xperia Tipo, which we saw not long ago getting the FCC’s approval, will be hitting the UK in just a few weeks.

That’s a fact, and not some sort of rumor, even though Sony has yet to release a statement on the matter. We don’t need any statement, however, because O2 and Orange, two of the most important British mobile operators, are already listing the phone on their websites as “coming soon”.

Neither O2, nor Orange is mentioning the exact date when we should expect the Tipo to actually start selling, [...]

Sony Xperia Tipo hits FCC, a budget phone with Android 4.0.3 ICS

by: Bams SadewoJuly 16, 2012

Not quite ready to make a $100 upfront commitment for AT&T’s Sony Xperia Ion? Perhaps the manufacturer’s more affordable offering is what you seek. The entry-level Sony Xperia Tipo, which was unveiled to the world just last month, was all dolled up for its FCC appointment yesterday.

As reported by Unwired View, FCC has just approved a Sony phone that goes by the model number ST21a. There’s no doubt that this is the U.S. variant of Xperia Tipo, which will run on 1900/850 WCDMA network. They’re the same frequency that AT&T operates in. It appears we might just see the Tipo joining its big brother on AT&T very soon.

The Sony Xperia Tipo is pretty [...]

Sony jumps on the dual-sim bandwagon with Xperia tipo dual, to hit the market in Q3

by: AdrianJune 13, 2012

Much to everyone’s surprise (and disappointment), Sony just unveiled that “next Xperia” phone teased on Facebook on Monday. The mid-range “miro” is far from the high-end super-phone we’ve been expecting from Sony, but it still looks like a pretty decent and stylish piece of technology.

We unfortunately can’t say the same about the Xperia tipo and tipo dual, a new smartphone duo unveiled by Sony that only has one (tiny) ace up its sleeve. As you probably have figured it out from its name, the tipo dual will come with dual-SIM support, being the first such device manufactured by the Japanese company.

However, the Xperia tipo dual will not allow the using of two [...]
