Aside from making us face the first world problem of choosing between the very similar Xperia Z and ZL high-end devices, Sony has very recently made buying a budget new Xperia phone also difficult.

Meet the Sony Xperia SP, the not-so-modest little brother of the impressive Xperia Z and ZL. This fellow has been making the rumor rounds for a couple of months now, but has become official earlier today and is due out in Europe and Asia “from Q2 2013”.

Sony didn’t want to steal any of Xperia Z’s thunder at MWC, which is why the expected L and SP weren’t unveiled, but now is as good a time as any for the mid-range duo to debut.

A new Sony phone has just been leaked, the SP, and it's not really all that exciting. It has a 4.6 inch 720p display, which would have been cool in 2012, but we're in 2013.
