Sony Xperia P will get an ICS makeover on August 19-25, only in India for now?

by: Bogdan PetrovanAugust 6, 2012

According to a post from Sony India’s Facebook page, the middle-brother of the Xperia NXT series, the Sony Xperia P will be treated with a serving of Ice Cream Sandwich between August 19 and August 25.

Although we can’t say that the updates at Sony come as clockwork, the Japanese giant is nevertheless one of the most open Android manufacturers when it comes to sharing plans on software updates. To recap, back in July, an Italian Sony representative announced on the social network that the ICS update will hit the Xperia P at the beginning of August. However, Sony backtracked soon after, and pegged the rollout for the second half of August.

Sony launches unlocked Xperia NXT (S, P, and U) series in the US

by: Bogdan PetrovanJuly 16, 2012

The Xperia NXT series was first announced during the Mobile World Congress, back in February. The three devices in the series, the Xperia S, P, and U are not Sony’s standard bearers (that spot is reserved to the LTE-enabled Xperia Ion), but they do deliver nevertheless decent specs and a classy appearance.

Our biggest gripe with the three devices is on the software side. The Xperias come with Gingerbread on board, which is a crying shame, no matter how you look at it. However, Sony has promised updates to ICS (for now) for all its recent devices, and, up until now, they’ve been quite good at respecting their update schedules.

Sony today announced that you can [...]

by: Ankit BanerjeeJuly 9, 2012

The Android smartphone environment in the U.S. has been dominated by companies such as Samsung, HTC, and Motorola, with manufacturers such as Huawei, ZTE, LG, and Sony attempting to make in-roads into an already saturated market. These companies have planned for this entry with some truly amazing devices, but unfortunately Sony has fallen somewhat short in this regard. Do they get points for effort?

And a valiant effort it is, with the Sony Xperia P, Xperia S, and the mid-range Xperia Sola now available for sale in the USA. The good news – the devices are available unlocked and not requiring any form of a long-term contractual [...]

Sony Xperia P to receive ICS update in early August

by: Bams SadewoJuly 9, 2012

Following the global rollout of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Sony Xperia S, there are two more phones from Sony’s NXT series that are yet to receive their ice cream treat: the Sony Xperia P and the Xperia U. It looks like owners of the Xperia P won’t have to wait too long for ICS, though — that is if you consider one month as a relatively short time to wait.

The latest scoop on the long awaited ICS update for the Xperia P came from Sony Italy’s Facebook page. Responding to a question from an owner of the phone about the update, they said the rollout it’s slated for early August. It’s unclear whether the date will be the same for all [...]
