We’ve been hearing quite a lot about the Xperia GX ever since May, but for some reason Sony has delayed the new phone’s launch a couple of times already. The high-end Japan-bound flagship smartphone is, however, finally supposed to start shipping today, although NTT DoCoMo is still listing it as “not available”.
If you’re a resident of the “Land of the Rising Sun” and you’re on the hunt for a spanking new phone with a lot of oomph and a cool design, you should keep a close eye on NTT DoCoMo’s website, because we’re betting that by the end of the day the GX will in fact show up as “available”.
In the meantime, we should tell you about [...]
We’ve been waiting for Sony’s Xperia GX (aka Hayabusa) for quite some time now, hoping that it will be able to stir things up in the high-end phone niche. Anticipation grew gradually over the last few months, as we found out more and more about the handheld, and we now finally know when it will start selling.
As you might already know, the Xperia GX is the phone’s exclusive branding for Japan, where it will ship via NTT DoCoMo starting Thursday, August 9. One week before that (meaning the day after tomorrow), the carrier will open pre-orders for Sony’s new flagship, although the pricing details are still being kept [...]
Samsung and HTC don’t have much competition in the high-end smartphone market niche these days, but we knew for a while that Sony is preparing a charge against the S3 and the One X. But, while Sony’s future flagships look really special in theory, the release delays might seriously affect their practical chances of making a difference.
According to official information on NTT DoCoMo’s webpage, the Japanese carrier will start taking pre-orders for the Xperia GX on August 2, and ship the phone a full week later, on the 9th. That means that, for some reason, the initial plans – to put the handheld up for sale in July – have been modified. Sure, we might [...]
Sony is getting its high-end smartphone guns ready for the summer charge against Samsung and HTC and the first battle it has to fight is a local one. However, the Japanese market it’s a very important one for Sony, so it’s no wonder that the Xperia GX and SX will be promoted with an aggressive marketing campaign in the Land of the Rising Sun.
Sony posted three new commercials on its official YouTube account in the last few days, and these will surely raise some controversy. But as bizarre as they might seem at a first Western glance, the ads definitely have the potential to drive Sony’s sales forward in Japan.Beatbox ballerina mix

We can’t really say Sony has the necessary “muscle” to battle Samsung or HTC in the high-end Android universe, but that might well change in a matter of weeks. The company’s flagship device, known by the LT29i and Hayabusa codenames, is getting ever closer to its release, although its existence is yet to be confirmed from official sources.
Fortunately, we don’t need official confirmation to know that we are being prepared for something big! If the phone’s FCC approval from a couple of days ago wasn’t enough to warrant Hayabusa’s imminent release, today’s two leaks will most likely seal the deal.
While in the low and medium-end parts of the smartphone world Sony has made quite the efforts to gain traction over the last few months, the high-tech involvement of the Japanese company has been (officially) almost completely non-existent.
Unofficially, however, we’ve known for a while that Sony is preparing something big, in the form of a phone that has gone through more codenames and secret identities than Daniel Craig’s James Bond. The LT29i, aka Hayabusa, aka Xperia GX, aka SO-04D, has been rumored for many months and has now made a “gala” appearance over at the FCC.
Before taking a look at the FCC’s filing and what do the Commission’s documents reveal [...]
No matter if you’re a fan of the Galaxy S3 or not, you can’t say that Samsung hasn’t done the absolute best job in marketing and advertising the new flagship phone. We’ve been on our toes waiting for the S3 for several months, and a big part of its popularity is due to this great hype building around it.
Samsung’s example hasn’t exactly been followed by HTC or LG, who’ve unveiled their latest high-end offerings without much glitter, but Sony seems to have taken a cue from Sammy and is now trying to build some hype around the next Xperia smartphone.
However, Sony might do an even better job than Samsung in promoting this mysterious future device, as it offers its [...]
Sony appears to be quietly getting its own future flagship ready. The Xperia GX, also known as the LT29i or the Hayabusa, will be made available sometime in Q3 2012 and will come with a smaller “sibling” as well, the Xperia SX.First Xperia GX sample photos

Though Sony’s LT29i Hayabusa has already been sighted in the wild, we’re still in the dark about the phone’s official Xperia branding, at least one that we know of. Unwired View believes that the flagship phone will be named as the Sony Xperia GX, the same phone that DoCoMo just introduced a couple of days ago for the Japanese market.
Sony Xperia GX has similar specs to the LT29i Hayabusa. The phone will ship with a 4.6-inch HD screen, a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, 13.2MP rear camera, 1,700mAh battery, and Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich. Given the slight difference in specs, it is possible that the LT29i [...]
