Samsung’s Smart TV hacking secrets to be sold to government agencies

A security company known as ReVuln has created a video demonstrating that it can hack and root Samsung's Smart TV range including the Samsung TV LED 3D. The video shows how a zero-day vulnerability in the TV's firmware can be used to retrieve sensitive information and monitor the device remotely. However ReVuln aren't disclosing this information to Samsung, instead the company prefers to sell its secrets to governments and "other paying customers."

After so many bad news there had to be some sunshine on the horizon for Google TV, and, while we’re still only dealing with a ray or two, we’ll take it and hope for the best. The good news was brought quite surprisingly by LG UPlus, a Korean mobile phone operator and IPTV service provider.

Samsung Cloud Gaming announced for LED Smart TVs, could Android support be next?

Hardcore gamers are most likely aware that this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, takes place in Las Vegas this week, therefore we’re being bombarded with gaming-related news from left and right. In fact, Samsung decided it’s time to become a “major force in the video game industry” and released a press release to announce its Samsung Cloud Gaming project developed in partnership with Gaikai.

Before you ask, Samsung Cloud Gaming will be available only to 2012 Samsung LED 7000 series Smart TV owners, although I wouldn’t be surprised to see the South Korean company adapt it for other devices and even Android use at some point in the [...]
