After a crazy week, packed with CES announcements, launches and exclusive previews, some of you might feel the need to take a breather and forget about tech for a couple of days.
Samsung’s first Stratosphere, a slider keyboard, wasn’t that good and it was reflected by the fact that a lot of people didn’t buy it. Samsung is looking to please the fans of the hardware QWERTY keyboard by releasing the Stratosphere II. There are details about it on Best Buy, where it’ll eventually be sold for a cool $100.
We reported that the Samsung Stratosphere 2 was heading to Verizon back in August, yet it wasn’t until a week ago that pictures of the phone – complete with the carrier’s branding – surfaced online. Most recently, the Stratosphere 2 was featured on several promotional flyers, namely BJ’s, Radio Shack’s, and Walmart’s – all indicating that it’s ready to get some love from buyers. To top it off, dummy units of the phone have now arrived in stores.
We have yet to see an official announcement from Verizon Wireless, however a recent BJ’s wholesale club flyer suggests that Samsung Stratosphere 2 should have already been made available for purchase.
One of the most interesting QWERTY devices of 2011 has been Verizon’s Samsung Stratosphere, which is getting ready for a refresh. Rumors about the second Stratosphere have been floating around ever since August, but now it’s time to finally have a look at the new phone’s design.
You don’t get to be the largest wireless service provider in the United States by sitting around and doing nothing, which is why we were expecting Verizon for a while to reveal its plans for this fall. But before Big Red got a chance to officially tell us something other than the Droid Razr HD and Maxx HD are coming “soon” and other “surprises” are to be expected, a Phone Arena tipster went on and shattered the mystery.
With the original Samsung Stratosphere reaching the ripe age of one year old on Verizon, it’s about time for Big Red to release a refreshed model of the slider. Just so happen, the Stratosphere 2 is one of two new phones that are listed on Verizon’s equipment guide for the second half of the year.
