Apps people, apps! What good are our tablets, smartphones or phablets with massively powerful multi-core processing under the hood if they don’t have apps that can push the hardware to its limits? That’s possibly the thinking behind Samsung’s Smart App Challenge 2012, a global competition that the Korean company hopes will help boost the number of proprietary apps for their Galaxy Tab and Galaxy Note. Sammy has divided the contest into two categories – “Samsung Apps Super Apps” and “Best S Pen Apps” – and will hand out $4.08 million in prize money to 80 winners. That’s a lot of moolah, folks. …
The Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 is one of Samsung’s first devices on the tablet market scene. Since its inception, the device had met positive reviews from consumers and critics alike. Armed with a 1 GHz processor and 7.0 inch touchscreen, the Galaxy Tab is one mean machine for everyday use. For Galaxy Tab owners who felt that their tablet is getting sluggish by the day, then you might want to try rooting your device. Rooting can be a daunting task to many consumers, most especially to people who are just getting to know the Android OS. But, once you gain …

Finally, the original 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab gets to taste some Ice Cream Sandwich. Thanks to a MIUI 4 port for the original Galaxy Tab P1000, the tablet can now enjoy some of the goodness of Android 4.0. A member of XDA Developers, sinamosavi, was able to port the MIUI 4 ROM to the Galaxy Tab. The ROM is based on CyanogenMod 9, which in turn is based on stock Android 4.0 code from the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). The custom ROM for the Galaxy Tab is still an alpha build, so you can expect it to carry …
For anyone who’s still not convinced of the success of Android tablets, the latest market share count proves just why the iPad and TabClones are losing momentum. Thanks to the 7-inch Kindle Fire, many have seen the light of day with this non-Google tablet. Ever since its release in November, the tablet has already reached neck-to-neck spot with Samsung’s Galaxy Tab as the ‘Most Used Android Tablet.’ So the big question now is how this non-Google, muddied up UI tablet take the spot away from a real Android tablet? According to Flurry, ‘Amazon’s launch of Kindle Fire had more in …

Simply put, the Samsung Galaxy Tab is one of the sexiest tablets ever made. Having already landed in the US, it’s UK arrival is imminent. Samsung and Apple have been at each others’ throats over patents for awhile now. The latest casualty in the entire mess was the Galaxy Tab 10.1. The Regional Court of Düsseldorf recently decided that the tablet should be banned from being sold in EU countries, a solid hit at its marketing strategy. However, Samsung isn’t calling it quits just yet. The Korean company is all set to appeal the ban at a hearing scheduled for August 25. The big European ban is supposedly Apple’s knock-out punch for this round, but with Samsung not surrendering the European market just yet, it may …

I know many of you have been waiting for the debut of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 in the market. Try to reign in your excitement for a little while longer though as the exact date of its release isn’t confirmed as of yet. While it’s been offered for pre-order over at Amazon UK, its list price has been fluctuating between £600 and £606. And its ship date has been changing almost daily too. It’s common for suppliers to get a hold of precious pre-consumer market units of yet unreleased devices for earlier offering. While some gadget fanatics would rather …
If you’ve been hankering to try out Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab 10.1, there’s a simple way to do so. American Airlines’s plan is to have 6,000 of the new Galaxy Tabs available of select flights later this year. It is already slated to be part of premium cabins on transcontinental flights between …
Stop! What are you guys doing? I’ll take one of those! Occasionly one of these videos pop up, and we can only watch in horror as these guys destroy perfectly good gadgets. With this particular video from ElectronicsBreak, we get front row seats to see just how tough these tablets are, and apparently not so tough. The contenders are the Samsung Galaxy Tab, an iPad 2, and a Motorola XOOM. One by one, from waist level, all tablets are dropped, face planting into what appears to be marble or concrete. While all devices are pretty much finished after hitting the …

Packing a customized version of Android 3.1 Honeycomb, the Tab 10.1′s 16 GB version will be selling for $499 while the 32GB version will have a price tag of $599 at Best Buy. Here are some of the specs: As you’ve noticed from …
Engadget have recently announced news that the Samsung Galaxy Tab is set to land with AT&T ‘before December’ this year. This information comes as a rumour borne from a tip off from an internal AT&T leak. The Samsung Galaxy Tab is an Android 2.2 based tablet hoping to take a slice of some of the iPad market share. The image provided by Engadget confirms that this device will indeed land with AT&T, thanks to the branding on the back of the device. What is also interesting about this new string of rumors from Engadget is that we can also expect …
The Samsung Galaxy Tab has had the root treatment from Germany hackers developers Sera-Apps (in German). This achievement is something that the Android community can become excited about as it makes the Samsung Galaxy Tab one of the most flexible tablets around (well, soon to be around). Sera-Apps allegedly rooted a Tab at the IFA trade show, and in doing so it is possible that Samsung will increase efforts to ‘lock down’ the device to prevent it from becoming rooted so easily. The good news is that the developers haven’t made public their method, which is a smart thing to …
