While the Samsung Galaxy S3 is already available in various international markets, US Android fans interested in purchasing the company’s 2012 flagship smartphone will have to wait at least a few more weeks to get it, if recent rumors are correct.
The phone is expected to land in U.S. stores on June 20, at which point you’ll be able to get your Galaxy S3 flavor from one of the four major mobile operators – Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile are already confirmed to carry the Galaxy S3 – or from one of the regional carriers that will surely pick up the phone.
Meanwhile, the first press photo of a U.S. Galaxy S3 version has been [...]
Samsung’s TouchWiz UI has been iconic to the company’s success in many of its mobile phones. Fans of the famed launcher will have more reasons to celebrate as the TouchWiz UX launcher from the Galaxy S3 has now been ported to run on the Galaxy S2, thanks to XDA Developers member Smando.
The new TouchWiz UX launcher that was first seen on the Galaxy S3 sports numerous features such as sorting apps alphabetically in a grid, choosing a default homescreen, S Voice communication, the ability to watch a video picture-in-picture, and many other features. Not only that, the latest TouchWiz UX launcher will work on Samsung official ROMs and on custom ROMs like AOSP, AOKP, and [...]
Samsung is really enjoying flaunting its sales figures lately, so it should come as no surprise that the latest sales report released by Sammy mentions some new and very impressive numbers.
No, the quarter hasn’t yet finished (there’s a whole month to go), but that’s no reason for Samsung to not brag with probably its most successful devices ever, the original Galaxy S phone, the Galaxy S2, and the Galaxy Note “phablet”.
According to the company’s official statements, combined Galaxy S and S2 sales have topped the 50 million mark worldwide, which is darn impressive, anyway you look at it. The original Galaxy S currently accounts for 24 million unit sales, [...]
Everyone’s going ga-ga over Samsung’s latest flagship phone. People from all over the world were dying to know more about this mystery phone, weaving rumors left and right and now that the phone is here, the excitement has really reached its peak.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 may not have landed in your area yet, but other people in more fortunate corners of the globe are enjoying the device’s awesome specs. Who could blame you for being impatient?
We’re itching to get our hands on this beauty, too, but since good things come to those who wait, we’ve settled for something to tide us over. It may not be the actual device, but getting to [...]
There has been a lot of good news for Android and Samsung fans in India in the last week. First, the Galaxy Note got the upgrade to Android 4.0, available OTA or via Kies. There was later an announcement that all new Samsung Galaxy S2s that would be sold in India would ship with ICS out of the box. Leaving the best for last, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is already up for pre-order and will likely be available in the next two weeks.
But, all the good news did nothing to stem the increasing disappointment and anger felt by current Samsung Galaxy S2 owners, who have been eagerly awaiting the update to Google’s “latest and greatest” iteration of the Android OS. [...]
I know that you just can’t get enough of the news about the newly unveiled Samsung Galaxy S3, especially when talking about its software, hacks, custom ROMs, and so on. That’s why we’re glad to tell you that the handheld’s TouchWiz UX launcher has been ported to the Galaxy S2, courtesy of a skilled member of the XDA-Developers forum.
The news comes less than a week after the Galaxy S3’s stock ROM has been leaked, a few days after the first custom ROM popped up on the web, and just two days after the S Voice app has been made to work on pretty much any Android device out there.
Now that’s what I call serious involvement from the independent Android developers [...]
“We are in close communication with T-Mobile to ensure that eligible devices are upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in the coming months and will provide updates as we have additional details to share.” That was the only message Samsung had to offer T-Mobile customers last month, when it announced a list of US devices to be upgraded to ICS.
Needless to say, the message was received with reluctance and downright anger by most users, which started to believe that their Samsung gadgets will be completely ignored in the jump to Android’s latest OS version. Fear not, tech enthusiasts, because the list of devices in store for an ICS update has been updated and now [...]
While it hasn’t been as disappointing as, say, LG when talking about updating its devices to Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich, Samsung has managed to enrage many of its customers by pushing back upgrades and failing to announce exact dates for specific devices.
The Galaxy S2, the company’s flagship smartphone in 2011, has had many different versions and variations released and, unfortunately, a bunch of these are still (officially) running that old raggedy Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
Fortunately, today we have news that confirm the rollout of Android ICS updates for one of the most popular Galaxy S2 variations out there. We’re talking about the Galaxy S2 LTE, which [...]
If you’re fed up with your Android phone’s stock ROM, why not try flashing a custom ROM to your mobile phone? There are plenty of custom ROMs to choose from for your Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-T989. ROMs such as CyanogenMod 9 or AOKP offer pure Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) for your mobile phone. You can also try the fast and beautifully designed skin of MIUI ROM. But, before you take your first step into flashing custom ROMs, we should make every flashing procedure safe by installing ClockworkMod Touch Recovery.
This software is used to create backups, restore previous ROMs, and safely flash ROMs, mods and hacks to your mobile phone. What’s even [...]
The Samsung Galaxy S2 was and still is a spectacular phone. However, even though it’s still extremely popular and is making Sammy a boatload of money, it hasn’t managed to fully satisfy consumers in North America, at least from one point of view.
Samsung and the US carriers have used a confusing and quite erratic marketing strategy for the S2, and managed to confuse customers with a branding that didn’t seem to make much sense. We’ve had five or six different Galaxy S2 versions in the U.S. and at least four in Canada, although the “different” phones had little tweaks and distinctive traits.
The latest Galaxy S2 version to be unveiled was the so-called [...]
