Picking up on our last report about the coming of Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich for T-Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy S2 on June 11, it seems the carrier has stayed true to its words by finally rolling out the update at 11 PM yesterday – a mere one hour before the clock hits 12. Kind of makes you wish that you hadn’t spent so much time refreshing the phone and checking on the Kies software all day yesterday, doesn’t it?
As detailed on T-Mobile’s website, don’t expect to see any notification for the ICS update on your phone, as the roll out will not be pushed through via OTA. You’ll have to get your dessert update via Kies instead, so it’s recommended to update the PC [...]
Having trouble choosing between 2012’s Phone of the Year candidate Samsung Galaxy S3 and the shape-shifting Asus Padfone?
Check out the quick comparison video below to see how the two smartphones stack up against each other. To make things even more interesting, we’ve also thrown last year’s best-selling Android phone, the Samsung Galaxy S2 into the mix, so make that a three-way visual comparison.
The red hot Samsung Galaxy S3 is the more attractive offering compared to the two. But for those who like the idea of a device within a device (within a device), the Asus Padfone should make for one worthy purchase. The complete package of the Padfone will cost you [...]
After using the Samsung Galaxy S3 as my primary mobile device for a couple of days now, I’m quite confident to say that Apple has all the reason to be wary of Sammy’s latest flagship device. The Galaxy S3 definitely has what it takes to pull the iPhone 4S down any given mobile tracking charts. In both design and performance the Galaxy S3 can easily match up what the iPhone 4S has been offering. And we all better accept that, regardless of whether we are sitting on the Android or iOS bench.
As an example of how hot of a mobile device the Samsung Galaxy S3 is right now, mobile site uSwitch.com has announced that the device has dislodged the iPhone 4S from [...]
It’s been a long time a-coming, but owners of the Samsung Galaxy S2 on T-Mobile can stop daydreaming about Ice Cream Sandwich and start preparing for a scoop. T-Mobile has announced on their Twitter account that the Android 4.0 upgrade for the device is “coming via Samsung Kies” starting June 6. Sadly, the carrier hasn’t mentioned anything else, except that more details will be posted soon. Let’s just hope and assume that we’ll hear more from them this week.
Back in April, Samsung released a list of all its devices in the US that will be getting ICS – a list that oddly excludes T-Mobile devices. “We are in close communication with T-Mobile to ensure that eligible [...]
While the Samsung Galaxy S3 is already available in various international markets, US Android fans interested in purchasing the company’s 2012 flagship smartphone will have to wait at least a few more weeks to get it, if recent rumors are correct.
The phone is expected to land in U.S. stores on June 20, at which point you’ll be able to get your Galaxy S3 flavor from one of the four major mobile operators – Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile are already confirmed to carry the Galaxy S3 – or from one of the regional carriers that will surely pick up the phone.
Meanwhile, the first press photo of a U.S. Galaxy S3 version has been [...]
Samsung’s TouchWiz UI has been iconic to the company’s success in many of its mobile phones. Fans of the famed launcher will have more reasons to celebrate as the TouchWiz UX launcher from the Galaxy S3 has now been ported to run on the Galaxy S2, thanks to XDA Developers member Smando.
The new TouchWiz UX launcher that was first seen on the Galaxy S3 sports numerous features such as sorting apps alphabetically in a grid, choosing a default homescreen, S Voice communication, the ability to watch a video picture-in-picture, and many other features. Not only that, the latest TouchWiz UX launcher will work on Samsung official ROMs and on custom ROMs like AOSP, AOKP, and [...]
Samsung is really enjoying flaunting its sales figures lately, so it should come as no surprise that the latest sales report released by Sammy mentions some new and very impressive numbers.
No, the quarter hasn’t yet finished (there’s a whole month to go), but that’s no reason for Samsung to not brag with probably its most successful devices ever, the original Galaxy S phone, the Galaxy S2, and the Galaxy Note “phablet”.
According to the company’s official statements, combined Galaxy S and S2 sales have topped the 50 million mark worldwide, which is darn impressive, anyway you look at it. The original Galaxy S currently accounts for 24 million unit sales, [...]
Everyone’s going ga-ga over Samsung’s latest flagship phone. People from all over the world were dying to know more about this mystery phone, weaving rumors left and right and now that the phone is here, the excitement has really reached its peak.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 may not have landed in your area yet, but other people in more fortunate corners of the globe are enjoying the device’s awesome specs. Who could blame you for being impatient?
We’re itching to get our hands on this beauty, too, but since good things come to those who wait, we’ve settled for something to tide us over. It may not be the actual device, but getting to [...]
There has been a lot of good news for Android and Samsung fans in India in the last week. First, the Galaxy Note got the upgrade to Android 4.0, available OTA or via Kies. There was later an announcement that all new Samsung Galaxy S2s that would be sold in India would ship with ICS out of the box. Leaving the best for last, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is already up for pre-order and will likely be available in the next two weeks.
But, all the good news did nothing to stem the increasing disappointment and anger felt by current Samsung Galaxy S2 owners, who have been eagerly awaiting the update to Google’s “latest and greatest” iteration of the Android OS. [...]
I know that you just can’t get enough of the news about the newly unveiled Samsung Galaxy S3, especially when talking about its software, hacks, custom ROMs, and so on. That’s why we’re glad to tell you that the handheld’s TouchWiz UX launcher has been ported to the Galaxy S2, courtesy of a skilled member of the XDA-Developers forum.
The news comes less than a week after the Galaxy S3’s stock ROM has been leaked, a few days after the first custom ROM popped up on the web, and just two days after the S Voice app has been made to work on pretty much any Android device out there.
Now that’s what I call serious involvement from the independent Android developers [...]
