Samsung Galaxy S3 vs HTC One X

by: Mike AndriciApril 1, 2012

Although Samsung has not revealed any ‘official information’ about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3, a lot of rumors and leaks have surfaced over the past month or so, painting quite a clear image of Samsung’s next flagship superphone. Given the current state of the Android smartphone market, many of those that plan to buy a high-end Android smartphone over the next months will ultimately have a very tough choice to make: buy the Samsung Galaxy S3 or the HTC One X.

While armchair experts will be eager to point out that there is no point in comparing the two smartphones since the Galaxy S3 has not been officially unveiled yet, I’m willing to bet a six pack [...]

More impressive numbers for Samsung: 10M Galaxy S3s pre-ordered, 1.75M Galaxy Ys shipped per month

by: AdrianMarch 31, 2012

Just a couple of days after finding out that the Galaxy Note “phablet” has hit a whopping five million sales in just five short months, we now have another set of impressive Samsung figures to talk about.

On one hand, according to Eldar Murtazin, a very well-known technology journalist and blogger, cited by the guys at UnwiredView, the Galaxy S III, Sammy’s future flagship, has already hit a whopping 10 million pre-ordered units.

That may not seem an awful lot, when Apple sold 1.7 million iPhone 4S devices in just three days of availability, but you should keep in mind that the Galaxy S III still doesn’t have one single spec or feature officially [...]

Can the Galaxy S3 bring Samsung the first 50 million+ quarter?

by: Bogdan PetrovanMarch 28, 2012

Samsung had a pretty good day. It announced that it sold five million Galaxy Note units, which is nothing less of impressive, considering that the 5.3-inch Note is a road opening device, dismissed by many as a freakish mongrel with no chances of survival in the unforgiving tech jungle.

But the Galaxy Note proved pundits wrong. Customers seem to love it. Elephants seem to like it, too. Thanks to the Note and its other star devices, Samsung is the number one smartphone seller in several huge markets, including South Korea (where it owns a whopping two thirds of the market), China, France, or Spain.

The good figures of the Note, combined with consistent performance [...]

Samsung Galaxy S3 to have 4.6-inch display, report says

by: Bogdan PetrovanMarch 28, 2012

After a wild leak-fest (fake-leak-fest?) over the last weeks, it seems that the whole Samsung Galaxy S3 craziness has subdued for a while. For a while, that is.

Anonymous manufacturing sources cited by Digitimes (who else) have confirmed today something that previous rumors have suggested several months ago. However, if Digitimes’ sources are to be trusted (the Taiwanese site has a mixed record when it comes to stuff like this), the rumor mill, while in the ballpark, was slightly off about the display size of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3.

Previous reports indicated that the Galaxy S3 will have a 4.8-inch screen, although others pegged a 4.7-inch touchscreen. [...]

Will the Samsung Galaxy S3 be launched as early as this weekend?

by: Ankit BanerjeeMarch 26, 2012

In a move that could be considered the coup of the decade, which is a very long time in mobile phone years, are we looking at an imminent announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S3?

UK-based retailer Phones 4 U has completely changed the appearance of its Oxford Street branch, covering  the store’s windows with the Samsung logo and the almost ominous announcement ”Coming 30.03.2012.” As you may remember, Phones 4 U was also the exclusive UK retailer for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and may have picked up its second big Samsung product in less than a year.

As has been the case for the past month or so, no one has any idea what Samsung is actually up to. [...]

The Galaxy S3 effect: iPhone 5 rumored to have a 4.6-inch display

by: Bams SadewoMarch 24, 2012

Electric Pig

Bigger is better. That seems to be the conclusion of a recent survey that says the majority of smartphone owners want their next phone to have a bigger screen. While the 3.5-inch display of the iPhone was distinctive at the time of its introduction, which was five years ago, Apple seems adamant in keeping it, on the basis that a 3.5-inch display is the optimal size for operating your phone with one hand. Is Apple about to have a change of heart by introducing a bigger and sharper display for its iPhone 5?  Welcome to another edition of the iPhone 5 rumor mill.

Reported by the Maeli Business Newspaper from South Korea, an anonymous industry source has [...]

Bam! New Samsung Galaxy S3 image leaked along with full specs?

by: Bogdan PetrovanMarch 21, 2012

What a rollercoaster! After days of furious speculations, today we’ve got two huge pieces of news concerning the Samsung Galaxy 3. First, Samsung’s VP for China told the press that the Galaxy S3 launch event may come in April, although it was originally planned for May.

Now, we have even bigger news – a leaked image originating from Dutch mobile blog GSMHelpdesk.nl shows a supposed Galaxy S3 that is very similar to the device shown in the leak we saw last Saturday. Moreover, GSMHelpdesk claims that the trusted source that supplied the image has also provided them with the full specs of the Samsung Galaxy S3.

New image corroborates with previous leak

Samsung finally speaks on Galaxy S3: release date may be in April after all

by: Bogdan PetrovanMarch 21, 2012

With dozens of supposed leaks, rumors, and speculations swirling around the Samsung Galaxy S3, ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous, the expectations that build up over the upcoming superphone are tremendous. Besides repeatedly negating the various rumors about the Galaxy S3, Samsung did little to feed the hype or to temper it down. All we’ve got was a vague assurance that the S3 will come in the first part of the year.

But now, we finally have official news from a high-powered Samsung executive (one with a name, unlike the many anonymous, yet chatty Samsung execs cited by the rumor mill so far) concerning the launch date of the Galaxy S3. More precisely, [...]

Samsung Galaxy S3 might come standard with wireless charging

by: LucianMarch 19, 2012

The Samsung leaks just won’t stop these days. It seems Samsung may launch the Galaxy S3 with its own proprietary wireless charging station. The smartphone will not even need to touch the charger, as it can charge from a distance of 1-2 meters. That seems pretty futuristic, if you ask me, considering that only a few years ago wireless charging was more of a science lab experiment.

Of course, Samsung wouldn’t be the first to use wireless charging for a phone. The Palm Pre was one of the first to have to boast the wires-free charging technology. But Samsung may have improved the technology, if the information concerning the 1-2 meters charging [...]

Report: Samsung Galaxy S3 confirmed to rock quad-core Exynos

by: Bams SadewoMarch 19, 2012

With suspense building up over the imminent arrival of Samsung Galaxy S3, one Samsung executive is more than willing to share some tidbits of information about the Koreans’ upcoming super phone. Talking to Korea Times, the executive outed the processor that the Galaxy S3 will be sporting.

While no specific model of the processor was mentioned, the anonymous exec did say that the Samsung Galaxy S3 will use a 32nm quad-core processor. As noted by MobileSyrup, it is likely that the source was talking about the Exynos 4412, which the world first saw during the Mobile World Congress in February. Compared to the Exynos 4210 found on Galaxy [...]
