Bigger is better. That is apparently the route that Samsung is taking with its borderline mythical Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone. According to an alleged Samsung senior executive that spoke to South Korean media, Samsung Galaxy S3 will boast a 4.8-inch display with a 16:9 aspect ratio.
And apparently, if Google Translate is not cheating us too hard, the device will be announced next month. Actually, the translation says “early next month”, but we can’t say if that’s Google’s algorithms getting “lost in translation” or an accurate interpretation of the Korean text. Any Korean speakers reading us? Would love to hear your [...]
When the things you know for sure about an upcoming gadget or device can be summed up into one simple sentence, like “we know nothing for sure about the Samsung Galaxy S3”, there is an endless sea of possibilities surrounding us all.
Could the Galaxy S3 be powered by a 2 GHz quad-core processor? It could. Could it sport a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED display? Why not? Could it run Android 5.0 Jelly Bean out of the box? Hard to believe, but it’s still possible.
But, could the Samsung Galaxy S3 come with a 3D display? Definitely not, according to an official statement from Sammy. The Korean-manufacturer told Engadget a few hours ago that “although Samsung Electronics is [...]
After I recently wrote about how easy it is to create a render for the Samsung Galaxy S3, it’s now time for me to write about exactly that, as a new supposed depiction of Samsung’s upcoming superphone has surfaced in Korea. I was set to approach this latest “rumor” about the Galaxy S3 with caution, but I actually believe that we might be looking at the real thing. Here’s why.
The timing of this “leak”, which has popped up on a few Korean websites, couldn’t be better. With the recent announcement of the HTC EVO 4G LTE and the HTC One X already shipping to select countries in Europe and India, Samsung really needs to step [...]
To say that the Samsung Galaxy S3 is the most awaited smartphone of 2012 would be a huge understatement. To say that the folks at Samsung are doing an awesome, yet unbelievably annoying job in building up the tension with regularly leaked “information” from “anonymous” sources would be an even bigger understatement.
Well, no matter if you like it or not, if you’re already fed up with the rumors or you can’t get enough of them, today we have yet another speculation concerning the Galaxy S3, coming, of course, from unnamed sources.
According to Korean website ddaily.co.kr, the Samsung Galaxy S III will feature a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED Plus display with 1280 [...]
The Samsung Galaxy S3 has done a very good job of staying hidden, with not even a whisper of what its specifications, design, or release date will be. This has resulted in an endless swirl of rumors and speculations, with “leaked” specifications and “press release” renders of the smartphone, every other week.
While a lot of the rumors on the specifications might be as close to the truth as possible, people have often been way off-base with the design renders being released. Most have been very easy to identify as fake, even if their creators invested a considerable amount of time and effort into making them.
Well, if you’ve [...]
As fans of the Galaxy S series are fully aware, Samsung is soon to release a new variant of the Exynos SoC (system on a chip), namely the 4412, expected to be first seen in action on the Samsung Galaxy S3. Although it’s no news that Samsung will build the chip in-house (as they have done so for most of their flagship smartphones since the original Galaxy S), sources quoted by Digitimes claim that Samsung might sell the Exynos 4412 to other OEMs, thus engaging in direct competition with the other SoC manufacturers.
While the exact Exynos 4412 specs are yet to be announced, it is estimated that the new SoC from Samsung will be built using the 32nm manufacturing process [...]
Although Samsung has not revealed any ‘official information’ about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3, a lot of rumors and leaks have surfaced over the past month or so, painting quite a clear image of Samsung’s next flagship superphone. Given the current state of the Android smartphone market, many of those that plan to buy a high-end Android smartphone over the next months will ultimately have a very tough choice to make: buy the Samsung Galaxy S3 or the HTC One X.
While armchair experts will be eager to point out that there is no point in comparing the two smartphones since the Galaxy S3 has not been officially unveiled yet, I’m willing to bet a six pack [...]
Just a couple of days after finding out that the Galaxy Note “phablet” has hit a whopping five million sales in just five short months, we now have another set of impressive Samsung figures to talk about.
On one hand, according to Eldar Murtazin, a very well-known technology journalist and blogger, cited by the guys at UnwiredView, the Galaxy S III, Sammy’s future flagship, has already hit a whopping 10 million pre-ordered units.
That may not seem an awful lot, when Apple sold 1.7 million iPhone 4S devices in just three days of availability, but you should keep in mind that the Galaxy S III still doesn’t have one single spec or feature officially [...]
Samsung had a pretty good day. It announced that it sold five million Galaxy Note units, which is nothing less of impressive, considering that the 5.3-inch Note is a road opening device, dismissed by many as a freakish mongrel with no chances of survival in the unforgiving tech jungle.
But the Galaxy Note proved pundits wrong. Customers seem to love it. Elephants seem to like it, too. Thanks to the Note and its other star devices, Samsung is the number one smartphone seller in several huge markets, including South Korea (where it owns a whopping two thirds of the market), China, France, or Spain.
The good figures of the Note, combined with consistent performance [...]
After a wild leak-fest (fake-leak-fest?) over the last weeks, it seems that the whole Samsung Galaxy S3 craziness has subdued for a while. For a while, that is.
Anonymous manufacturing sources cited by Digitimes (who else) have confirmed today something that previous rumors have suggested several months ago. However, if Digitimes’ sources are to be trusted (the Taiwanese site has a mixed record when it comes to stuff like this), the rumor mill, while in the ballpark, was slightly off about the display size of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3.
Previous reports indicated that the Galaxy S3 will have a 4.8-inch screen, although others pegged a 4.7-inch touchscreen. [...]
