Launched in late May, the Galaxy S3 is now available from all Big Four carriers in the U.S, with regional operators including U.S. Cellular and C Spire scheduled to get the handset soon. What’s particular for the American launch is that two of the Big Four mobile operators have already issued some important Galaxy S3 updates that, in addition to bringing some fixes and improvements, also happen to dumb down the Search feature of the phone. The Verge got a statement from Samsung on the matter and it appears that it’s the company’s doing. Just as we suspected, the South…

According to local news outlet Maeil Business Newspaper, Samsung is expected to increase its already impressive lead in the South Korean mobile market. After dominating the smartphone market in the first half of 2012 with a share of 66%, company executives predict that Samsung will reach an unprecedented 70% market share in July. According to a high-ranking Samsung official, the electronics mammoth already controls almost 69% of the fast growing LTE-enabled phone segment. The strong push into the LTE segment is one of the factors that explain Samsung’s blow out performance. Phones like the Galaxy S2 HD LTE and the…

Both Verizon and Samsung are seemingly unwilling to shoulder the blame for the Galaxy S3’s bootloader lockdown on Big Red. But if you’re looking for some incriminating evidence, you only need to look at how all the other U.S. carriers are selling the device with an unlocked bootloader. With the damage to its rap already done, Verizon is reportedly planning to release a software update that will somehow loosen its stranglehold on the Samsung Galaxy S3. It’s still unclear when Verizon will roll out the patch that will unlock the bootloader, though, and there’s always the chance that it might have a…

Galaxy S3 smart stay

Judging from the brisk sales of Samsung’s flagship device, by now the world is already head over heels for the Galaxy S3. But Samsung isn’t ready to let the romance fade.  They have just released a new video that emphasizes how intelligent the phone is. Be prepared to fall in love all over again. Showcased on the video are the Galaxy S3’s many smart features: the Smart Stay, S Voice, Smart Alert, Direct Call and Social Tag. These are basically the things tech geek dreams are made of. Samsung wants to dazzle users with the Galaxy S3’s eye-tracking ability, which…

It’s no secret anymore that the Verizon Galaxy S3 version, although otherwise similar to other U.S. Galaxy S3 variants, comes with a locked bootloader. While there are ways around it, and while Samsung did announce that it will launch a Galaxy S3 Developer Edition version that will come with an unlocked bootloader – but which will cost users the full $599 price – it looks like devs that have already purchased a subsidized Verizon unit have reasons to be happy today. Droid-Life reports that both Verizon and Samsung customer care departments say that a software update, that’s coming at some point…

A JPMorgan analyst was quoted by French newspaper Les Echos saying that Samsung sold 6.5 million Galaxy S3 devices in Q2, which is mostly June and another two days of May, since the Galaxy S3 was launched on May 29. That amounts to about 5 million units per month, or about five times better than the Galaxy Note, one of Samsung’s other highly successful products. The Galaxy S3 is definitely Samsung’s most successful Android product yet, considering that the Galaxy S2, their previous record holding Android device, sold “only” 10 million within the first 6 months, and the original Galaxy S sold half…

It seems Samsung is a lot more focused on services and software with its latest devices. The company gave some of its Galaxy S3 customers 50GB of Dropbox storage, with access for 2 years – presumably you’ll have to buy another Galaxy device to continue using 50GB or more after the 2-year period expires, depending on the promotion for that future Galaxy S device. Now, Samsung decided that 50GB of free storage from Dropbox was not enough, and it has partnered with Dropbox’s competitor SugarSync to bring an extra 5GB of cloud-based storage to its Galaxy S3 customers. At first…

If you aren’t bothered by the fact that the phone comes with a locked booatloader, and if you don’t feel like waiting or paying full price for the special “Developer Edition” of the device that Samsung plans to release, you can now get the Samsung Galaxy S3 on Verizon’s stores and virtual shelves. Ironically, the Big Red will not be offering that fiery-looking Garnet Red model of the Galaxy S3 that AT&T has just launched. So you’ll have to make do with the same Pebble Blue and White Ceramic Samsung Galaxy S3 that others have been brandishing for weeks. The…

Six U.S. carriers are already selling the Samsung Galaxy S3, or plan to start selling it soon, including Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular and C Spire, but all of them offer the device in the same two colors Pebble Blue and Marble White. If these colors are too boring for your taste then you should know that AT&T will have an exclusive color in stock soon, and that’s Garnet Red. AT&T has officially confirmed the Garnet Red Galaxy S3 version on its company blog, and the mobile operator has shared availability details with the crowds. The phone will be…

T-Mobile-spin-to-win

The Samsung Galaxy Note hasn’t been officially introduced by T-Mobile yet, despite all signs pointing to an imminent release of the phablet. But that doesn’t stop the carrier from including the Note as one of the top prizes that folks can win by entering the “Spin to Win” contest on its Facebook page. What’s even sweeter is the fact that no purchase is required to win the great prizes! If you’d like to get your hands on the unannounced Galaxy Note and loads of other tech goodies without paying a dime, simply head to T-Mo’s Facebook page and click the…
