Almost a month has passed after the formal introduction of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The new operating system’s source code has itself been released a couple of weeks back, so it’s only natural for users to expect official Jelly Bean updates to be flowing, right?
However, as recent history has sadly shown us, the road from an OS update becoming open source to it actually hitting the most popular devices around is a very bumpy one. So it’s no wonder that we still (officially) know very little about the Jelly Bean upgrade timeframes.
The only three devices that are already running Android 4.1 are the unlocked Galaxy Nexus, the Nexus 7 tablet, and now the Nexus S. [...]
The hottest Android handset available in stores right now is the Galaxy S3, but Samsung’s flagship handset is not running Google’s latest mobile operating system, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The Galaxy S3 was released in late May, a month ahead of the Google I/O event where Jelly Bean was first unveiled, with the OS running only on the Nexus 7 initially.
Google said that Nexus-branded smartphones (Nexus Galaxy and Nexus S) but also the Motorola Xoom tablet, will be the first ones to get Jelly Bean support, but in the mean time we’ve seen plenty of Android 4.1 ports for a variety of devices. Not to mention that the first CyanogenMod 10 preview [...]
What started as a portable means to make and receive calls and text messages, has now been replaced with the desire for a lot of other technologies such as cameras and mp3 players. Our smartphones have become an essential part of our lives, which we use for almost everything. Browsing the internet, checking e-mail, watching videos, listening to music, taking pictures and videos, and gaming, we can do it all on one single device.
What gives us the ability to do so, is the rapidly changing handheld device technology, such as the much faster dual-core and quad-core processors we now have available to us. Unfortunately, one [...]
The Galaxy S3 is already a best-selling Android smartphone, but, like any new device, it’s not flaw-free. While the fire accident was a one-time thing caused by placing the device in the microwave to dry after a water incident, we have another issue that seems to affect plenty of Galaxy S3 units: casing breakage.
According to Dutch publication Tweakers, various users have cracked the metallic edge of the case of their beloved Galaxy S3, without putting the device through any physical stress. The cracks seem to occur in various places, on the sides of the devices and at the bottom.
That’s certainly an interesting discovery, and we [...]
What started purely as a way to protect your smartphone from scratches and dents, has developed into a whole other entity by itself. You can now get numerous protective case options for most devices, each suited for different individual needs. With OEMs spending a lot of time and effort into creating beautifully designed devices, covering them up is not ideal. As such, there’s a huge demand for not only protective, but also aesthetically-pleasing smartphone cases that complement the device design.
Today, we bring to you a Samsung Galaxy S3 soft case extravaganza. Making the shortlist are 7 beautifully crafted cases including KaysCase Slim Soft Skin Cover Case, Fosmon [...]
Scratches, dents, and in extreme cases, cracked screens, on a handheld device is never a good thing, regardless of how expensive the device is. But, when you shell out over $700 for the latest high-end smartphone, you’ll do anything to make sure it stays in pristine condition. Unfortunately, accidents do occur, sometimes more often than you’d like. It’s because of this scenario that protective cases and covers came into the picture.
Following a report that mentioned a device insurer might not have replacement devices for the Samsung Galaxy S3, there is even more reason to take extra care of Samsung’s latest flagship device. Today, we do a review [...]
There has been much debate around exactly what improvements Samsung has brought to the table with the Galaxy S3 over the S2 and a big part of that discussion has concentrated on the two smartphones’ displays.
While many users have agreed that the S3’s screen is a natural evolution from the S2’s panel, there have been more than a fistful of critics disagreeing with that opinion, which has led to Samsung officials issuing statements defending the new display.
Naturally, that hasn’t completely calmed the criticism “storm”, but maybe DisplayMate’s most recent in-depth analysis will manage to do just that. According to what looks like a [...]
The 64GB Samsung Galaxy S3 model has proven to be quite the elusive one out of the three announced versions, mostly because since its introduction, Samsung hasn’t quite yet gotten around to actually release the phone. This lead to speculations that the bigger capacity Galaxy S3 has been put on the chopping block. But has it really been cancelled?
The Verge has received an official statement from Samsung that should be enough to put the cancellation rumors to rest. While the phone is still coming, you’re going to have to hold on to your money that much longer, because, well, Samsung has only shared a rather vague release date.
Here’s what Samsung said:
When the Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 came out of production, it came with Samsung’s custom keyboard, leaving phone users unable to enjoy the advantages (or disadvantages) of the stock ICS keyboard.
The stock ICS keyboard has been considered one of the best keyboard apps for Android, giving users the joy of typing by providing an almost perfect space between letters, better word prediction and typing correction, and more.
But, worry not. Developers have found ways to install and enable the stock ICS keyboard on the Galaxy S3.
Here are the steps you need to do to install the stock Android 4.0 keyboard on your Samsung Galaxy S3 [...]
One of the main requirements in order to program a CDMA phone is knowing the Master Subsidy Lock code (MSL number). This code is useful, most especially when you are trying to program a mobile telephone number. If you’re one of the many users who still can’t find out where the MSL number is located on your Sprint Galaxy S3 SPH-L710, then we’ve got some good news for you.
Owners of non-rooted Sprint Galaxy S3 phones can easily get their MSL number just by using an application known as Get My MSL. You can grab your copy by heading to the Google Play Store. But, for those who have rooted devices, the Get My MSL application will definitely not work. However, you can [...]
