Telstra to roll out ICS update for Samsung Galaxy Note on August 27

by: AdrianAugust 9, 2012

Before even thinking of outing the Galaxy Note 2, Samsung still has a few things to sort out regarding the first-edition phablet. Seen as one of the best pieces of Android technology around by… well, everybody, the 5.3-incher has had a really tough time in its road to Ice Cream Sandwich goodness.

European and Korean Note adopters have gotten the software bump the quickest, back in May, while US users of the AT&T version have had to wait for ICS for a couple of months. Canadians have themselves been treated to an official upgrade last month, while Aussie Note buyers have been left out of the mix for the longest time.

Indeed, the excruciatingly long wait is [...]

T-Mobile starts selling Galaxy Note and myTouch phones today

by: Bams SadewoAugust 8, 2012

History buffs probably know that August 8 was the date that the famous Great Train Robbery took place back in 1963. Fast forward to the present time, today should go down in history as the day that, umm, the Samsung Galaxy Note, along with two myTouch phones, finally goes on sale on T-Mobile.

As the world’s first phablet, a term that was coined especially for the device, the Galaxy Note still hasn’t lost much of its shine – despite the fact that a sequel is coming out soon. If you’ve been waiting for the GSM version of the Galaxy Note, here’s your chance to snag one from T-Mobile. It will cost you $250 with two-year contracts and after $50 mail-in rebate.

Here [...]

New rumors just about confirm the Galaxy Note 2 will be sporting a 5.5-inch semi-flexible AMOLED screen

by: AdrianAugust 8, 2012

Besides actually manufacturing the absolute best smartphones, Samsung has one more thing going for it that helps the company remain the undisputed Android king. The Koreans sure know how to build up the hype surrounding new products, ensuring therefore that the interest of potential customers reaches unbelievable heights way before a device is seeing the light of day.

Case(s) in point the Galaxy S3, which has kept us on our toes for months before its official unveiling, and now the Galaxy Note 2. The second-generation “phablet” has been in the spotlight for a while already, but, even with leaks and rumors coming from right and left, there [...]

by: Chris SmithAugust 8, 2012

After seeing a CyanogenMod 10 (Jelly Bean) port for the Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000, we’re now going to tell you that AOKP Jelly Bean has also been ported to the phablet, and users interested in customizing their Android experience on the device can go ahead and experience it.

Galaxy Note 10.1 killer feature caught on video

by: Bogdan PetrovanAugust 6, 2012

[Updated] Jonne from Androidsuomi reached out to tell us that the device in the video does support pressure detection and it was actually the Photoshop Mobile app that did not support the feature.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 officially launched today, after a long series of fake starts and contradicting rumors.

Featuring a mighty quad-core Exynos 4 processor and 2GB of RAM, the Galaxy Note 10.1 is a powerful machine, but it’s not the spec sheet that sets it apart from any other tablet on the market. The slate’s defining and most distinctive feature is the digitizer that accompanies it, which, with the right apps, can serve as an excellent productivity [...]

Vodafone releases ICS update to Galaxy Note tomorrow

by: nathanAugust 6, 2012

The Samsung Galaxy Note has had a wild ride, globally speaking, since it’s initial impression on the public almost a year ago. Tomorrow, the fun continues as the sweet phablet that shook the market gets a sweet upgrade to Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich.

As always, keep a steady connection and a full battery as OTA updates are never able to be foretold with an accurate date; they just kind of happen during a period of time, if at all. The carrier, Vodafone says, tomorrow is the start date so expect an update by week’s end to be safe. It looks as if this will be a [...]

by: Chris SmithAugust 6, 2012

The Galaxy S3 smartphone is the hottest Android smartphone in town, but the device is still running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. We have already seen unofficially Jelly Bean builds for Samsung’s flagship device, including a CyanogenMod 10 preview ROM, but Samsung is yet to announce Android 4.1 availability dates for the handset.

Furthermore, there are plenty of other Samsung devices we expect to get Jelly Bean soon, including the Galaxy S2, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note 2 and many others, but the South Korean company has not mentioned any Jelly Bean rollout dates for these devices either.

Sam Mobile now has more details about each of [...]
