Upgrade Galaxy Tab 10.1 WiFi/3G P7500 to Ice Cream Sandwich via CyanogenMod 9

by: JoseFebruary 7, 2012

CyanogenMod is a good proof of how awesome things are in the Android community. Based on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest CyanogenMod 9 is currently breaking a lot of boundaries. The team behind this project is aiming to put this custom ROM into as many devices as it can. And, true enough, it is indeed happening.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 WiFi/3G is among the items on the growing list of devices that are compatible with CyanogenMod 9. Galaxy Tab 10.1 owners can now taste the goodness of Ice Cream Sandwich. You need not wait for Samsung to release an official Android 4.0 update for your tablet.  Heaven knows that such official updates usually take forever to [...]

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 vs T-Mobile G-Slate 4G

by: Paul NuñalDecember 13, 2011

With the holiday season just around the corner two popular Honeycomb tablets, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the LG G-Slate 4G (T-Mobile) are heating up the competition as both devices promise to be showstoppers in their respective categories. If you still can’t decide on what tablet to choose, continue reading as we pit both tablets against each other in a head-to-head comparison.

Design and Display

From the looks of it, the Samsung Galaxy Tab is really thin at 256.7 x 175.3 x 8.6 mm compared to the T-Mobile G-Slate 4G at 243 x 149 x 12 mm. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 has several design features that resemble an iPad minus the single button found on the bottom. [...]

Gumdrop Drop Tech Series Review – Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Edition

by: Darryl DoakOctober 10, 2011

Some people have no fear when it comes to bringing their electronics everywhere they go, but that’s not me though! I’ve had a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 since it’s U.S. launch day, and I’ve always been afraid to bring it to work or let the kids play with it. It’s not that the tablet feels cheap, or that I think it’s likely to break, but simply because this is a very thin $500 electronic that I don’t have the luxury of insurance for. But, that’s where companies like Gumdrop have really stepped in, to protect our electronics from some of the worst we can throw at them, and thankfully, some of these companies build their cases like [...]

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Landing in UK Soon

by: James Paguyo IIISeptember 20, 2011

Simply put, the Samsung Galaxy Tab is one of the sexiest tablets ever made. Having already landed in the US, it’s UK arrival is imminent. Currently the thinnest tablet on the market, this particular svelte Android tablet has received rave reviews – especially for its best-in-class display, where it beat out all its tablet competitors, including the iPad 2.

Here’s the specs if you’re interested – and we bet you are.

Specs:  Display 10.1″ 1280 x 800 (WXGA) TFT Chipset – CP: XMM6260 Bearer – HSDPA 21Mbps  900/1900/2100 EDGE/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900 Memory – 1GB (RAM), 16/32/64GB (ROM) Camera / Flash [...]

Samsung Outsmarts Apple, Routes Around German Injunction

by: LucianSeptember 10, 2011

The drama continues. While Apple may have just won a permanent injunction over the Galaxy Tab 10.1, it seems things are not so clear cut, and actually Samsung can pretty easily route around that injunction. You see, Samsung is not allowed to use their German subsidiary to sell or re-stock the German retailers with the Galaxy Tab 10.1, but Samsung can easily circumvent that by using either their subsidiary in Netherlands to sell to them, or even the South Korean one.

And this seems to actually work, as it doesn’t seem to be a problem for retailers to re-stock their Galaxy Tab 10.1 inventory with new tablets from Samsung’s other subsidiaries. As long as they [...]

WOW! Apple Provides Misleading Evidence to Court. Again

by: LucianAugust 19, 2011

This is unbelievable, and it’s really starting to get ridiculous. Apparently Apple was so satisfied with the result of the first injunction in Germany, where they manipulated the image of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 to make it the same size and give it a more 4:3 ratio, so they can “prove” that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is “virtually identical” to the iPad, that they decided to do it once again at the Court in Netherlands, this time for the Galaxy S smartphone.

Webwereld reconstructed Apple evidence*

Apple provided the Court with this evidence while trying to show “an example of the similarity relevant to copyrights.” [...]

Apple’s Injunction Overturned for Most of Europe

by: LucianAugust 16, 2011

It seems that Samsung has already managed to lift the injunction on its Galaxy Tab 10.1 throughout Europe (except Germany), at least for now. One of the first things that I found odd with the German Court putting an injunction on the Galaxy Tab 10.1, is that they managed to do it throughout Europe. I wasn’t aware that the EU had such a law where one, almost random, Court (Germany doesn’t even have the presidency of EU right now) can put an injunction on companies that will cover the whole EU.

It looks like there may have been several procedural errors with this case, and besides the one about the misleading evidence Apple presented to the Court (whether [...]

Apple Injunction May be Overturned

by: LucianAugust 15, 2011

Last week I was saying how the German Court’s decision to grant Apple an injunction over Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 makes little sense. Just because 2 products are somewhat similar “in the same product category” doesn’t mean one should be blocked out from the market. It’s how competition works in the real world. But it seems that even they may have been misled by Apple’s legal team.

Apple’s legal team presented the German Court with “evidence” that appears to be tampered with to make the Galaxy Tab 10.1 look as similar as possible to the iPad. Not only did the Tab get stretched out on the sides, but it was [...]

Samsung Hoping To Get Past Apple’s European Ban

by: Aerol BibatAugust 15, 2011

Samsung and Apple have been at each others’ throats over patents for awhile now. The latest casualty in the entire mess was the Galaxy Tab 10.1. The Regional Court of Düsseldorf recently decided that the tablet should be banned from being sold in EU countries, a solid hit at its marketing strategy.

However, Samsung isn’t calling it quits just yet. The Korean company is all set to appeal the ban at a hearing scheduled for August 25.

The big European ban is supposedly Apple’s knock-out punch for this round, but with Samsung not surrendering the European market just yet, it may still backfire on the company. This is because, according to German [...]
