Samsung has S Voice, a feature available only on the Galaxy S3 at this time and seen as the company’s response to Apple’s Siri assistant and today LG announced its own similar “intelligent voice recognition” software called Quick Voice. LG’s virtual assistant is apparently scheduled to hit various Android smartphones part of the Optimus family, such as the Optimus Vu and Optimus LTE II, which are getting Quick Voice in June and July, respectively. With all the hype about the Galaxy S3 these days, does it still pay to own the Google phone? Of course it does! Galaxy Nexus owners receive all OTA updates, have gratuitous amounts of developer support, and still own one of the more powerful Android devices to date. Regardless of these facts, many owners are itching to taste some of that GS3 goodness, and we don’t blame them. The device and its software are simply epic. Thankfully, it didn’t take long for the Galaxy Nexus’ developer community to provide loyal owners with a way to do it! What is needed? Now before…

by 2 years ago

Even though the official launch of Samsung Galaxy S3 is but a day away, those in the know have gotten to know the phone’s software quite well thanks to a certain leaked ROM, which has seen many — if not all — of its features becoming available to use on other phones. Ever since the devs at XDA shared the APK file for S Voice, we’ve seen Samsung trying to block the use of the app on non-Samsung Galaxy S3 devices, only for the devs to outsmart the Korean company. The first attempt to restrict the unauthorized use of S…

Updated with workaround for Samsung’s restriction. See below. Thanks, Frank! While not everyone is enamored with the design of the Samsung Galaxy S3, apparently people don’t mind getting an early taste of the phone’s smart software. It started with Flipboard, a supposedly exclusive social magazine app for the Galaxy S3, which was extracted from the device merely days after its introduction. Then came the wide availability of the Galaxy S3’s ROM, which gave way for even more goodies to come. One of said goodies is Samsung’s answer to Siri, the Samsung S Voice. The APK for Samsung S Voice was highly…

Speech recognition specialists need to take into account numerous factors and feed them as inputs into complex algorithms. Just think about…

How smart is the Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone?

by 2 years ago

The Samsung Galaxy S3, revealed a couple of days ago, definitely sports some of the best hardware specs around, but it also looks like Samsung have managed to integrate software functions that give a new meaning for the word “smart” in smartphones. Marketed by Samusng as human-centric functions, these are features exclusive to the Samsung Galaxy S3. On a personal level, I feel like the smart features on the Samsung Galaxy S3 represent a major improvement towards simplifying tasks on your smartphone. Granted, we expect more from a thinking smartphone, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction. So…
