But, the technology world waits for no man, and it is time to hop aboard the rumor train once again. The focus of our attention this time is another eagerly awaited Samsung product, the Galaxy Note 10.1.

The Galaxy Note 10.1 was first seen at MWC 2012 but the release was delayed until June and further information suggested that Samsung is yet to set a release date and unsurprisingly, will not confirm the hardware or the design of the tablet. So the device seen at this year’s MWC event might not be anything close to what the final product will be.

According to a Nenmark2 benchmark test result spotted by GSMArena, the Samsung GT-8010 (Galaxy Note 10.1) will house a 1.4 Ghz processor and achieved an impressive 58.8 fps. This suggests that the “re-designed” Galaxy Note 10.1 could house the same quad-core Exynos 4412 processor that powers the Samsung Galaxy S3. This is certainly believable with the Galaxy Tab 7.7 sporting the same dual-core 1.4 Ghz Exynos processor as the Galaxy Note “phablet, scoring 44 fps and 48 fps respectively.

With Samsung moving its Galaxy Tab 2 series to the mid-to-low range of the price spectrum, the Galaxy Note 10.1 is set to take over as Samsung’s high-end tablet offering. Looking to compete with the iPad 3 and the powerful ASUS Transformer Infinity series with the quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, it is certainly conceivable that Samsung is taking its time to produce the best tablet possible. To compete in the burgeoning Android tablet market at this point requires that they bring their ‘A’ game, which is to say, they must use a quad-core processor.

Of course, this is just an unconfirmed rumor (here we go again) so what the device will officially be packing is yet to be known or confirmed.

What are your thoughts? Are you excited about the Galaxy Note 10.1? Would you prefer the device to house a quad-core processor? Let’s be serious. Of course it will. Anything less would be a boldly stupid mistake on Samsung’s part, and, if you’ve been paying attention, then you know they aren’t a stupid company. There have been countless rumors about Samsung’s “Next Galaxy” and the rumor-train doesn’t seem to be slowing down, even though we’re only three days away from the official launch. But three days is a long time in the tech world, and we can certainly expect to hear a few more rumors along the way. Let’s take a look at the latest.

As you can see from the image above, a new image of the purported Samsung Galaxy S3 has been “leaked”, complete with a scale to judge the size of the device. This leak is courtesy of an anonymous tipster who sent the image to Know Your Mobile.

As you can see from the image above, the device will supposedly feature a 4.8″ display and a physical menu button, both attributes which are expected in the next Galaxy. The leak consists just of one image and doesn’t give away any information on the hardware housed inside. I almost missed the physical button from the image above, but increasing the brightness helps. The image below is courtesy of Pocket Lint.

Unfortunately, it looks too much like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus for my liking, which makes me think that the above image is just another fake. I am positive that the Galaxy S3 isn’t a new rendition of an older device with a physical button slapped on. If I am wrong, I’m sure that a lot of you will be very disappointed. The flood of leaks and speculation has brought too much hype on the device, and now Samsung has some truly high expectations to live up to.

What are your thoughts? Fake image or the real deal? We’d already seen how Samsung is using disguised prototypes of the device when sending it out for network testing, to avoid any design leaks. But, there have been numerous leaks and speculation about these dummy boxes themselves, and here’s another one. This leak is courtesy of Chinese mobile forum, Mobile01. The page has been removed since the news broke.

Of course, this is not the final design of the device at all, which is very obvious, with notes and tape all over the device. But, the leak, if true, does give us some useful insight into what Samsung is hoping to achieve with its next flagship device:

It features Android 4.0 with a TouchWiz layering

The prototype suggests that Samsung is looking to include a physical home button (as previous leaks have suggested)

The above device features the Android 4.0-recommended virtual buttons

The position of the virtual menu keys have been switched around, with the recent apps moving to the left and the back button shifting to the right

The “Twonky Server” app features an additional virtual button (seen above), which might suggest that Samsung isn’t happy with in-app menu options

Of course, no conclusive evidence about this device being the Samsung Galaxy S3 can be found in this latest leak. One of the most important points that makes me feel like this might not be accurate is the presence of the Android Market, which should’ve been updated to the Play Store by now.

Another day, another Samsung Galaxy S3 rumor. Why does it feel like May 3 is ages away? You can visit the website for the Samsung Unpacked event here.

What are your thoughts? We “know” almost everything about the device, including the display, the size, the processor, the internal storage, the camera, and the battery. The only problem is, none of it might be true. Or all of it could be. We will not know for sure until the official announcement, which is expected to be May 22 in London. But again, that is another rumor that needs validation.

Apart from specification rumors, we’ve also been seeing numerous images of the supposedly real Galaxy S3. Most were easy to identify as fakes, while some were completely different devices. But we aren’t any closer to getting any accurate information about the phone than the day we first heard the name “Samsung Galaxy S3.”

After a lot of visitors commented along the lines of “Stop talking about the S3 because you don’t know anything about it,” I started to wonder as to why. Why don’t we know anything concrete about this phone yet? Especially if we are as close to the launch as we think.

Up to eight weeks before a launch, manufacturers are known to send out their devices for carrier testing. While most vendors would do anything to prevent information leaks, it is during this carrier testing phase that we receive the most credible leaks, including specification sheets, “future” press shots, and, in some extreme cases, even hands-on videos.

According to the Korean Financial and Tech Blog ET News, Samsung had sent out the Galaxy S3 for carrier testing over six weeks ago, which is in line with our estimated release date.

Yes! We finally get to see the real Galaxy S3! Not quite.

In a move straight out of Apple’s playbook, Samsung is using disguised prototypes, said to be in a “lunch box” design, when sending out the device for testing. If you are confused, what this means is that while the internal hardware and device firmware are the same, the casing itself is inconspicuous and is nothing like the final design of the product. This allows carriers to test the device, while also preventing information leaks.

This ploy is a brilliant way to maintain secrecy, and without an semi-official leak, allow Samsung to make design changes right until the launch. Who knows, all the speculation and rumors so far might be a part of Samsung’s strategy to find out what, we, the consumers, would like to see on its next flagship device.

All we know for certain at this point, and something we knew all along, is that the Samsung Galaxy S3 will feature the Android 4.0 OS.

What are your thoughts? The first rumor (chronologically speaking) hit the blogs when AndroidAndMe claimed to have insider information regarding the upcoming Google Nexus tablet, which would supposedly be manufactured by ASUS. Around one week later, a Digitimes report followed up along the same lines, though with a few extra details.

Summing up the previous Google Nexus tablet rumors

Up until now, rumors seemed to indicate that Google was planning to release a quad-core Nexus Tablet that would be manufactured by ASUS and would be priced between $200 and $250. Judging on the rumored specs and on Google’s track record of basing its Nexus smartphones on existing devices from OEMs, it seemed like the Nexus tablet could be based on the 7-inch ASUS MeMO 370T.

Fueling the speculations, ASUS has unveiled the MeMO 370T (running Ice Cream Sandwich) at CES, in January, but the Taiwanese didn’t even mention the device at MWC in early March.

New rumor: the Nexus tablet will be dual-core, priced at $149?

Today, AndroidAndMe reported yet another rumor, this time allegedly coming from a supply chain insider, claiming that the ASUS MeMO 370T was cancelled, and thus won’t reach the market in the state we’ve seen it at CES.

However, the source suggested that the MeMo 370T will suffer several modifications (downgrades, really) before being re-branded into the Nexus Tablet, explicitly mentioning that the quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor will be replaced with a dual-core Qualcomm processor. AndroidAndMe’s source did not mention it specifically, but I’m guessing (and sort of hoping) he was talking about the Snapdragon S4, although the S3 cannot be excluded. However, there’s some good news — the dual-core Google Nexus would supposedly be priced between $149 and $199!

Android fans, cross your fingers!

To put it bluntly, if this rumor turns out to be real, it’s very much a double-blow administered to the Android community. Not only we’d be denied a quad-core Nexus Tablet, but we’d also be denied a quad-core Ice Cream Sandwich tablet (I’m talking about the ASUS MeMO 370T) that – priced at $249 – would have kicked some serious butt. On the flip side, a $149 Google tablet would be incredible, no matter how you look at it.

What do you guys think? What would be better: a quad-core Google Nexus for $200 or a dual-core Nexus tablet for $149?

NEXT: Report: $199 Quad-Core Nexus Tablet to Be Manufactured by ASUS

New Rumors Confirm Speculations about the Google Nexus Tablet From ASUS Quad Core Nexus 3 with Ice Cream Sandwich Pictures Revealed? Being one of the world’s biggest companies, and arguably one of the best-positioned to introduced a new product to a market, there are a lot of rumors flying around about what exactly these tablets will bring to the table. After all, the tablet market is currently one of the most crowded places for a product to be nowadays. However, Amazon’s already available offering, the Kindle, may offer a hint.

What Amazon did with the Kindle was provide a ready-made source for digital items that you can use on it, namely e-books. With the recent opening of the Amazon Appstore – an app store dedicated to the Android platform – the company seems to be aiming for a similar strategy. But rumors are pointing to another addition: free access to Amazon MP3 and Amazon Instant Video services.

Although no official word has been said about the Amazon tablet line, sources are mentioning that one of the initial tablet offerings is code-named “Hollywood”. Supposedly packing a 10-inch color display and set for a holiday launch this year, it will also provide access the company’s movie streaming service for free at launch. As for the Amazon MP3 digital music store, it already sells to a number of Android smartphones and tablets and it’ll be easy to integrate it.

This could be a good thing for Amazon. Right now, their only competition in the video-streaming game is Netflix, which offers subscribers TV and movie streams for $7.99 a month – and that’s for phones. If Amazon does it for Android tablet – which are better set-up for video viewing – then they’ve got a winner on their hands.

Source: Liliputing

NEXT: Amazon to release Android tablet and App Store?

Amazon’s Tegra-Powered Coyote and Hollywood to Shake iPad, Android Tablet Space Amazon Planning to Enter Tablet Market With a Bang!

This article, Amazon Android Tablet To Have Video Streaming? , was originally published at AndroidAuthority.com - Your Android News Source.

HTC shelves its Android and Chrome OS tablets

Android News

HTC

Rumor

Remember the Android tablet from HTC that was supposedly going to debut at CES? Global Equities Research analyst Trip Chowdhry jumped on the Android rumor bandwagon by predicting that Motorola will debut two new Android handsets with OLED displays during its pre-CES press conference on January 6th. One handset will be a Google experience phone (i.e., no MOTOBLUR) with a QWERTY keyboard and is headed to AT&T, while the other will debut with Verizon Wireless and will feature a soft keyboard. It will be interesting to see how this plays out next week as this prediction flies in the face of current rumors which place the Motorola Backflip en route to AT&T and the Motorola Devour A555 headed to Verizon Wireless. Neither phone matches Chowdhry’s predictions as the Backflip supposedly runs MOTOBLUR and has not been mentioned to have an OLED screen and the Verizon Wireless Devour is rumored to be a slider with a full QWERTY keyboard and is an entry-level device that does not include an OLED display. Fingers crossed that all the rumors are correct and Motorola will be launching not two, but four new handsets next week.

[via Barron's]

NEXT: Motorola Calgary coming to Verizon Wireless in early 2010 as the Devour A555?

Acer confirms Android lineup – up to 6 new handsets in the first half of 2010 Motorola DROID nears one million device sold target

This article, Motorola to introduce two new Android handsets with OLED displays at CES 2010? , was originally published at AndroidAuthority.com - Your Android News Source.

HTC Incredible headed to Verizon Wireless?

Android Phones

HTC

Rumor

Engadget dropped a short but sweet rumor that would interest Verizon Wireless customers.
