Motorola has launched a website that details all of the goodies found in the new GSM/UMTS version of the DROID that will be known as the MILESTONE. From what I can gather, it appears to be basically the same device with new network support and some relatively minor software changes.  I gather from what the spec sheet says that this phone will not offer Google Maps Navigation, since MOTONAV is included on the phone.  It does supposedly support multitouch zoom control in the browser, though, so that’s certainly going to appeal to a lot of people. BTW, I posted the…

Not that long ago we brought you the news that the Samsung Galaxy i7500 was available to purchase online through O2.co.uk in the UK. Now, this Android device is available on the O2 network in the UK through O2 stores, o2.co.uk and O2’s telesales team. We received this press release yesterday, which details much of what we already know about the device. “The Samsung Galaxy is one of the most innovative and high-quality Android-powered devices on the market. We’ve built in all the features people have come to expect from high-end Samsung devices, like the AMOLED screen and fast processing…

Flying somewhat under the radar is the news that O2 UK will now be getting the Samsung i7500 device in August this year. Ewan, from Mobile Industry Review, wandered into his local O2 store on Friday this week to pick up a brochure of the up and coming devices. The first Friday of the month is when these things hit the shelves. Allegedly, page six of this O2 July catalogue reveals the Samsung i7500 will land in August. This was confirmed by the shop clerk too. Given the fact that they also have the iPhone and, as MIR point out,…

As promised, the Samsung Galaxy is now available from O2 in Germany.  The Galaxy is Samsung’s first commerically available Android based smartphone. O2 is offering the device for 69.99 EUR with one of two rebate plans.  One gives the customer 15% off the monthly plan costs, the other provides the user with 100 free SMS per month. You can see the product page here (in German). [via TalkAndroid]

Samsung itself has put out a press release concerning its new i7500, which was announced for O2 Germany.  There are a number of specs in there worth looking at, but the most important would seem to be the configuration of the 3G support. Samsung lists 3G HSDPA/HSUPA connectivity on the 900, 2100, and 1700MHz network bands.  That indicates that the device will support T-Mobile USA’s 3G network, though I wouldn’t be shocked to see it available only as a separate version of the device, rather than a tri-band UMTS version that also supported 900 and 2100MHz.  The O2 release made…

Well the news is just in, things have just got official from O2 Germany. Bild.de, a German language technology site, reported earlier that the Samsung i7500 will beat the S8000 to the finish line to be Samsung’s first mobile running Google’s Android operating system. This morning, O2 Germany clearly up the rumours by officially announcing the device. There is no word regarding which carriers will offer the i7500 in other countries or what the availability will be outside of Germany. In an official press release announcement, O2 has confirmed that the i7500 will be available in June this year: “Samsung is…
