With technology enthusiasts in the United States still not knowing when (and for what price) to expect the Galaxy S3, Sammy’s new flagship phone, things are starting to shape up in Europe.
UK’s most important carriers have officially announced when they’ll put the phone up for sale and how much it will cost. The good news is that you’ll be able to get the Galaxy S3 free of charge. The bad news is that not all carriers offer the next Galaxy for free, and those that do require some hefty new plans to be activated.
Vodafone will be the first UK carrier to sell the S3, one day before all its competitors, and will also be the first to offer both the 16 and the [...]
As expected, the Samsung Galaxy S3 fever is increasing as we get closer to the official unveiling, next week. While we still have very little in terms of official information about the future handheld, the PR guys at Samsung are doing a brilliant job of keeping us on our toes and gradually “leaking” details about it.
The most recent news we have to report about the “next Galaxy” is, believe it or not, official, and, even though it doesn’t refer to the phone’s tech specs, features or pricing, it should make a couple of tech geeks even more excited about the upcoming Android “beast”.
Vodafone UK and O2, the two biggest mobile carriers in the United Kingdom, have [...]
Great news for our UK readers who really like the Xperia S. We’ve just learned that O2 and Three will be carrying the Xperia S on their network, when it arrives this March. We’ve also learned that the White version of the Xperia S will be a Phones4U exclusive. Phones4U announced that it has achieved nationwide exclusivity on the white Xperia S in the UK.
So what about the rest of the world? When is T-Mobile and/or AT&T going to get the Xperia S? Hopefully we don’t have a repeat of what Verizon did with the Galaxy Nexus and delaying it a long time. Hopefully we hear release dates of the Xperia S’ family member the Xperia Ion and all of [...]
HTC’s plum-colored Android phone, the HTC Rhyme–which many say is a ladies phone–has finally made its way into the U.K. The HTC Rhyme is now available exclusively at O2.
Available both on and off contract from the carrier, this purple delight can be yours for free on a two-year £27 a month deal, or for £349.99 off contract. Also included are the Bluetooth docking station, the tangle-free earbuds, and of course, the Charm.
For those of you not familiar with the HTC Rhyme, it features a 3.7-inch display with Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The Rhyme also brings you a 1-GHz processor, with 4 GB of flash memory and 768 MB of RAM–which are standard [...]
Dell has announced that its Android-powered Streak tablet, also known as the Dell Mini 5, will be available in the UK from O2 and the Carphone Warehouse in early June, and Dell.co.uk later in the month. Pricing information is not yet available and will be announced by O2 before the launch.
Dell has also said that the 10mm thick tablet (or smartbook) will be made available to U.S. customers at some point during the summer.
The Dell Streak features a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution and is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. A 5 megapixel autofocus [...]
The Motorola Droid reviewed by Michael last week is heading to Europe and also Canada (exclusively on Telus) as the Motorola Milestone. The Motorola Droid is estimated to have sold over 100,000 units during its opening weekend with Verizon, which according to Mark McKechnie with Broadpoint AmTech should hopefully see Motorola back to an operating profit sometime next year .
O2 Germany have recently announced the Milestone which will be available for €549,99 on a range of tariffs including unlimited calls to landline and other O2 Germany Network devices. Some of the differences between the Milestone and the Droid include the 8GB [...]
Motorola has launched a website that details all of the goodies found in the new GSM/UMTS version of the DROID that will be known as the MILESTONE.
From what I can gather, it appears to be basically the same device with new network support and some relatively minor software changes. I gather from what the spec sheet says that this phone will not offer Google Maps Navigation, since MOTONAV is included on the phone. It does supposedly support multitouch zoom control in the browser, though, so that’s certainly going to appeal to a lot of people.
BTW, I posted the Motorola DROID review on MobileBurn.com this [...]
