This week the Google / Asus Nexus 7 officially launched. This tablet is amazing and extremely popular. Our guests and hosts discussed the most popular features of the Nexus 7 including price, content, form factor, size and weight and general usability. Yes, some people are complaining about dead pixels or screen lifting issues. Is this really a big deal? Don’t many, many tablets have launch issues including the latest iPad? Yes. When you’re mass producing these units you’re bound to have a few that aren’t perfect. Send’em back and get a replacement.
Besides the Nexus7 shipping with Jelly Bean, we were teased this week with CM10 on many, [...]
The Nexus 7 may be the most popular Android tablet in town these days, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s flaw free. In addition to the screen ghosting issues affecting certain users that we talked about a few days ago, we now have a new screen-related problem for you.
This time around it appears that some Nexus 7 units have faulty displays that seem to slightly come out of the plastic bezel. In case you noticed your display creaking when touching it in certain areas that’s because it’s not perfectly held in place by the screws behind it.
The most obvious thing to do is to contact Google customer support and have this issue [...]
The Google Nexus 7 is right now one of the most popular 7-inch tablets out there, and considering it’s a Nexus-branded device ready to offer buyers a pure Android experience, it will probably become one of the best sold tablets of the year.
Google is yet to mention sales numbers for the device that started shipping last week and which is currently sold out with certain third-party retailers, but Digitimes reports that according to “industry sources” the Search giant may ship as many as 2.5-3 million units this year.
That may not seem like an impressive number, as the tablet is only available in a limited number of markets right now, [...]
When Google introduced the Nexus 7 tablet, Canadian folks were more than happy to find out that their country will be one of the few to be prioritized by Google for the initial launch of the Tegra 3-powered device, along with the U.S., UK and Australia. After weeks of waiting and anticipating, those who pre-ordered the Nexus 7 straight from Google have now received shipping confirmation of the tablet.
Aside from the influx of reports from customers who are now eagerly waiting for the Jelly Bean tablet to arrive at their doorsteps, the good news was shared by Google itself on its support forum, which provided the following statement: “We’re now shipping Nexus 7 [...]
The Nexus 7 is available officially in certain markets – USA, Canada, Australia and UK – with Google and third-party retailers already shipping the device to customers that pre-ordered the device. In fact, the tablet is sold out with some of Google’s partners that already went through their initial Nexus 7 stock.
The tablet is definitely the talk of the town – we have dedicated plenty of coverage to the Nexus 7 ourselves – and the web is filled with Nexus 7-related reviews, opinions, videos and unboxings.
Today we’re looking at a hilarious montage made by a Nexus 7 fan that watched various unboxing videos from certain tech blogs, news [...]
We have talked extensively about Google’s recently announced Android 4.1 Jelly Bean mobile operating system, and while we have shown you its main features in posts and videos here on Android Authority, we now have the full official changelog of the new OS.
Google posted on its Android page a full list of new features available to Jelly Bean users, and here are some of the hidden perks we may have missed during our initial Android 4.1 coverage – features that even Google did not insist on while unveiling the OS:Support for USB audio docks, shipping later this year. WebView now supports vertical text, including Ruby Text and other [...]
Announced in late June at Google I/O 2012, and available for pre-order ever since in select countries – both from Google and other third-party retailers – the Nexus 7 finally started shipping yesterday. At the same time, Google authorized its retail partners to start selling the tablet in their stores, with companies like GameStop, Staples, Sam’s Club or Office Depot having already received Nexus 7 stock.
Reuters reported on Friday afternoon that the Google tablet sold out with various U.S. retailers including GameStop, Staples, Sam’s Club, while Office Depot “continued to offer the device for sale as of the afternoon.”
GameStop went [...]
It’s been a rough day today for anxious Nexus 7 buyers that have been counting the days and hours until their precious Jelly Bean tablet reached their doors.
In early morning we picked up a rumor that Google may be shipping the Nexus 7 tablet today, at least according to one reddit user that received shipment confirmation via email – we even checked that tracking number ourselves, although until writing these lines, his package had not been delivered.
We then found out that not only is Ebuyer shipping (free of charge) Google Nexus 7 pre-orders in the UK today, but that GameStop has been cleared by Google to start selling the tablet in [...]
A few hours ago we told you that the Google Nexus 7 tablet may be due today. We have even showed you proof that some pre-orders are supposed to be delivered today, at least according to emails received by at least one Nexus 7 buyer and now we have further updates for you.
Our readers have jumped in to tell us that Ebuyer is already shipping the tablet in the UK, even though we previously heard the Nexus 7 was supposed to be launched only next week. Moreover, other readers said that GameStop has received Nexus 7 stock and that it’s now allowed to sell it.
We have been able to confirm both reports, so the good news, for some of you, is [...]
We continue to report on the Nexus 7 release, since the device is currently the hottest Android device out there, but we can’t produce an actual launch date yet. Google promised at Google I/O a mid-July launch for its Jelly Bean device – its first tablet ever – and has been taking pre-orders ever since announcing the device.
We have no idea how many units the company sold thus far, although Google did reveal that pre-order numbers for the first day were “big.” The device is still available for pre-order directly from Google Play, but also from various other third-party retailers in the U.S., Canada, Australia and the [...]
