Motorola bringing two new phones to Brazil – a low-end Razr D1 and a mysterious mid-ranger

by: AdrianMarch 13, 2013
It’s been a while since we last saw Motorola unveiling a new smartphone, and, as much as we’d like to think otherwise, the X Phone won’t be out for a couple more months.

How it works: Gorilla Glass

by: Nate SwannerJanuary 4, 2013
Much like the first edition print of any comic book hero’s tale, Corning Glass was born of a science experiment gone wrong. In 1952 a scientist at Corning placed a piece of photosensitive glass in a furnace for testing. At some point the furnace skyrocketed from 600 degrees Celsius to 900 degrees. Expecting a ruined sample, the scientist was surprised to find an opaque sheet of material rather than a melted blob of molten mess.

Rogers pushes out Android 4.0 ICS upgrade for Motorola Razr

by: Bams SadewoAugust 26, 2012
We told you a couple of days back about the new ICS roll out timeline that Rogers has set for several devices, Motorola Razr included. Though we’re not quite at the very end of August yet, several owners of the Razr are reporting that they have received that oft delayed Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update on their phone.

Motorola RAZR Ice Cream Sandwich coming to Canada in ‘early September,’ Jelly Bean who?

by: Chris SmithAugust 23, 2012

Jelly Bean is still just a fantasy for most devices out there, especially the ones that could run Android 4.1 but are yet to receive the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update.

Such is the case with Canadian Motorola RAZR users that are still waiting to officially taste ICS on their handsets. However, there’s good news for them as Mobile Syrup is reporting that Motorola Canada mentioned on its Facebook Page an “early September” rollout of the RAZR ICS update:

“We wanted to share with you that the RAZR ICS upgrade will rollout in early September. We’ll have more details about the upgrade to share with you soon, so stay tuned!”

by: Bams SadewoAugust 21, 2012

ICS update for Motorola RAZR, RAZR Maxx now in India

by: Ankit BanerjeeJuly 11, 2012

Device manufacturers and network carriers have received a lot of flak for the slow rollout of the Android 4.0 update. For an OS that was announced almost a year back, it is quite sad to see that only 10% of the Android devices worldwide currently sport ICS. Even though the question of “When will I get Jellybean?” is on everyone’s mind, OEMs are slowly catching up with an OS rollout that should have happened a lot faster. It’s not like the technology infrastructure doesn’t exist to do such things; we’re talking about the mobile network of smartphones here!

Adhering to the axiom, “better late than never”, Motorola India is [...]

Rumor: Motorola Razr and Razr MAXX ICS rollout to start on June 27 in the US. Australians will have to wait

by: Ankit BanerjeeJune 21, 2012

Considering that Motorola is now owned by Google, the company has been somehow surprisingly AWOL in the Android device wars. With the HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy S3 already available, we are still waiting for any official word on Motorola’s next flagship device. Hopefully, Motorola won’t get stuck in a chronic case of “too little, too late” and lose sight of the race leaders. The same goes for the ICS update race.

Motorola announced a Q2 Android 4.0 rollout for the Razr and Razr MAXX, and with only nine days to go, it looks like the company is trying its best to meet the deadline. DroidLife reports that soak test invitations are [...]

Verizon’s Rezound, DROID 4 and RAZR turning into global devices?

by: Kelvin ServigonMay 20, 2012

You loved your Android phone back home, but what if it won’t work when you head to Europe for a two-week vacation? What if you’re in Japan for a business trip and your Android smartphones data plan isn’t working because your carrier’s coverage is nowhere to be found? Thankfully, it looks like more and more carriers are opening up their devices to be compatible with networks abroad.

GSM and CDMA are the two primary connectivity protocols used by today’s mobile devices. GSM is the dominant connectivity standard, and is very popular in Europe, Canada, and pretty much the rest of the world. LTE is based off the GSM standard.
