Official: Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE is real, to be released “very soon”

July 26, 2012

Diversity is the hallmark of the Android ecosystem, but there is still one equation that no manufacturer has tried to solve just yet. What do you get when you combine the latest version of Android, snappy hardware, LTE speeds, and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard?

We’d say you have a good chance to create a winning gadget, which is why the increasing hype surrounding the upcoming Motorola Photon Q LTE makes us very happy. The first rumors about the Sprint-bound phone popped up on the web several months ago, and now finally we have been given confirmation that the handset is real and nearing a release.

The confirmation comes straight from Sprint’s CEO Dan Hesse, who [...]

Motorola XT897 gets FCC certification, headed to Sprint as the Photon Q 4G LTE?

July 4, 2012

Although it hasn’t been exactly a hit, Sprint and Motorola’s Photon 4G has been rumored for a while to get a successor this summer. We first heard about the so-called Photon Q 4G LTE back in April, while just a few weeks back, we picked up on what looked like the first photo appearance of the new phone.

The plot now thickens even more, after spotting a mysterious Motorola XT897 gaining approval from FCC. While we can’t know for sure if the XT897 is the same device as the rumored Photon Q LTE, there are a couple of hints just about confirming it.

First off, this XT897 is sporting an LTE radio supporting 1900 MHz bands, according to FCC certification documents, [...]

Rumor: Sprint to release a Motorola Photon 4G follower sometime this year

April 25, 2012

The Motorola Photon 4G was Moto’s flagship device on Sprint less than a year ago, and, although it was quite a nice-looking and powerful phone at the time, it soon became outdated. However, as the device managed to draw some new customers to Sprint, it now seems that a sequel is in the works. At least that’s what the guys at PocketNow are claiming, saying that they picked up on a rumor from a “trusted source” about an upcoming Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE.

I know, that’s one of the most horrible smartphone names I ever heard, and it’s practically impossible to remember it without writing it down, but, for now, you shouldn’t worry too much about it. I mean, we don’t even [...]

Watch Google Voice Actions Knock Siri’s Socks Off

February 28, 2012

All we hear from Apple users, and especially from the poor souls that chose an iPhone4S over a Galaxy Nexus or any of the other leading Android devices, is how cool Siri is. Siri that, Siri this, we get it, you love your virtual personal assistant.

Motorola Looking for Photon 4G owners to test new Software Update

January 22, 2012

That’s right, Motorola is calling all Photon 4G owners for a new “soak” test for a new software update. Motorola is looking for testers, also known as a “soak” group, to test out a pre-release software update to help Motorola make sure the update is close to perfect by getting the update out to more people before official release. This is very common with Motorola, they begin by rolling out the update to a small “soak test” group then continues to roll it out to the rest of it’s users.

No world on what’s in this update, but I am almost positive that the Photon will be getting it’s first taste of Ice Cream Sandwich [...]
