Just as rumors have suggested, Motorola launched today an international version of the Verizon-bound Droid Turbo. The device will go on sale (at least for now) in Latin America.

Rechristened Moto Maxx (Verizon has a license on “Droid”), the device is identical to the Droid Turbo in specs and design, but it’s only available in one storage and finish version – 64GB ballistic nylon.

The biggest and most exciting feature of the Moto Maxx (not to be confused with the old Razr Maxx series) is obviously its massive battery. At 3,900 mAh, the Moto Maxx stands alone in its size class – in fact, no competitor with a similarly sized screen comes even close, though the 6-inch Mate 7 from HUAWEI has an even larger battery.

Motorola claims the Moto Maxx will be good for two days of usage, which seems a reasonable claim. Making the package even more attractive is the ability to use the Turbo Charger to juice up for up to eight hours of usage in just 15 minutes.

The rest of the spec sheet is just as impressive – there’s a 5.2-inch Quad HD display, a 21MP camera, a Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage (non-expandable).

Here’s our Kevin Nether’s hands-on with the Droid Turbo, the Maxx’ Verizon twin.

The Moto Maxx will be available in Brazil starting today for 2,199 reals ($870). In Mexico, the device will sell from mid-November, while other countries in Latin America will get it later this year.

There’s no information yet about the potential global availability of the Moto Maxx. The device has garnered lots of excitement under the Droid Turbo name so it’s possible that Motorola will want to capitalize on the interest and bring it outside the Americas. But that’s all speculation for now.
