Motorola devices getting ICS: Droid Xyboard 8.2 & 10.1, Xoom 2 WiFi, Xoom 2 Media Edition

After dropping the bomb and announcing that the Atrix 4G, Electrify and Photon 4G won’t be updated to Android 4.0, an entire wave of Motorola devices have started getting ICS as if to compensate. The Atrix 2 has got the upgrade a couple of weeks back, and now four tablets are in line for some tasty new software treats.

Motorola Droid Xyboard 8.2 ICS update on the way to Verizon customers

While it was leaked back in July, Verizon Wireless customers using the Motorola Droid Xyboard 8.2 should be seeing the official ICS update for the tablet soon.

While there hasn’t yet been an official announcement, Verizon’s support page for the Droid Xyboard 8.2 says a software update is coming soon, and the support documents have been updated with information about the upgrade. The documents confirm that the update is finally bringing Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich to the Xyboard 8.2.

The documents also note that the update includes the latest version of the Motorola USB driver, allowing users to connect to a computer and transfer files.  Other [...]

Leaked: ICS firmware for Motorola Droid Xyboard 8.2 and 10.1

The Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich updates for the Motorola Droid Xyboard 8.2 and 10.1 are scheduled to come in early Q3, so we should be hearing something official from Moto soon. But if you’re not one to be bound by words and promises, there’s always the unofficial way of putting ICS on your tablet.

A working ICS firmware for the two tablets is now available to download and install – thanks to mattlgrof from XDA-developers, who has found the leaked files. To be more specific, the leaked files will work on the Wi-Fi model of Droid Xyboard 8.2 and Xyboard 10.1, as well as the LTE model of the Droid Xyboard 8.2 and 10.1.
