ICS build for Verizon Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx hits beta, rollout should happen in a few days

by: AdrianJune 19, 2012

If you own a Verizon Motorola Droid RAZR or RAZR Maxx smartphone and you started losing your patience waiting for an official OTA update to Android 4.0, (which has been several times delayed and rescheduled), you might only have to wait for a few more days.

According to mattlgroff from, Verizon pushed out an ICS build to the Motorola Feedback Network, which are basically beta testers that put new builds to their paces before Big Red pushes them to the general public. Usually, this testing is one of the last stages before a general rollout. Assuming  that the Feedback team won’t find some catastrophic bugs that Verizon can’t fix within a week, [...]

Verizon Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx Android 4.0 ICS update coming soon, owners informed in text messages

by: Chris SmithJune 15, 2012

Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx owners will be thrilled to hear that the waiting may be over and that the update they were waiting for, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, is on the way. Motorola confirmed a few weeks ago that the two handsets will get ICS in the following six weeks, but the company failed to specify a precise roll out date.

Today’s news comes from Phandroid, which has “received word from a reader that Verizon is sending text messages to Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR Maxx customers to let them know that Android 4.0 is on its way.”

The online publication points out that during the ICS update, the My Verizon app will be [...]

Verizon says no date set yet for ICS upgrade on Motorola Droid Razr

by: Bams SadewoJune 13, 2012

There was a glimmer of hope that the Motorola Droid Razr and Razr Maxx would get their Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade on June 12, but that day came and passed without so much as a whiff of an ice cream serving. It looks like that “source within Verizon” that CNET cited last week has proven to be less than accurate. So when is the update coming for the two phones?

Responding to a question asked on the company’s Twitter account about the release schedule of ICS for Droid Razr, they replied that there’s no date set yet for the upgrade. This leaves owners of the phone to hang on to what Motorola has written on its ICS roadmap, which states that the “ICS upgrade roll out begins [...]

Motorola: Droid Razr and Razr Maxx getting ICS in the next six weeks. What about other devices?

by: Bams SadewoMay 19, 2012

We were about to lose hope to see Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on Moto devices in a relatively timely manner. But just now,  Motorola has decided to update its support page to let owners know about the lengthy process that it has to go through before it can roll out ICS. We know you’re not too keen to know the gritty details, so to keep things short, ICS is indeed coming to several Moto devices soon, while some just aren’t lucky.

According to the latest Motorola guidance on Ice Cream Sandwich availability, the Motorola Droid Razr and the Razr Maxx will be the first two Moto phones in the US to receive the ICS update, which the company plans to roll out in the second [...]

Blue Droid RAZR stars in official promo video, to hit Verizon on May 17

by: AdrianMay 15, 2012

Does anyone remember that rumor we reported on just last week of a blue Motorola Droid RAZR hitting Verizon? Well, that’s not a rumor anymore, as Big Red has confirmed the official release of the new version of the phone.

The blue Droid RAZR will hit Verizon’s shelves, both online and offline, on May 17 (the day after tomorrow), which is one day before the suspected date from last week. And if you thought that the release was going to be an insignificant event that would go without much attention from the nation’s biggest mobile carrier, you thought wrong.

A short promotional video has hit YouTube the other day and shows us the new Droid RAZR in action. The clip [...]

Rumor: Blue Motorola Droid Razr to hit Verizon on May 18

by: AdrianMay 8, 2012

Verizon’s Motorola Droid Razr wasn’t exactly a poor smartphone when it first saw the light of day, back in October 2011, but it quickly became uncool. The Droid Razr Maxx’s release in January probably hurt the original Razr the most, but the fact that the phone was never updated to Ice Cream Sandwich (and probably never will be) didn’t help it one bit.

However, Verizon and Motorola seem to still have faith in the Razr and are preparing to offer the device in a new color variation starting in just a couple of weeks. The source of the rumor is a leaked “inventory screens” which shows the Razr wearing in a snazzy cyan outfit.

The documents show that the spanking [...]
