Motorola: Droid Razr and Razr Maxx getting ICS in the next six weeks. What about other devices?

by: Bams SadewoMay 19, 2012

We were about to lose hope to see Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on Moto devices in a relatively timely manner. But just now,  Motorola has decided to update its support page to let owners know about the lengthy process that it has to go through before it can roll out ICS. We know you’re not too keen to know the gritty details, so to keep things short, ICS is indeed coming to several Moto devices soon, while some just aren’t lucky.

According to the latest Motorola guidance on Ice Cream Sandwich availability, the Motorola Droid Razr and the Razr Maxx will be the first two Moto phones in the US to receive the ICS update, which the company plans to roll out in the second [...]

Verizon’s Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX drops to $199; is RAZR HD coming?

by: AdrianMay 15, 2012

While it’s certainly not the snappiest Android smartphone out there, nor the most fashionable and it doesn’t come with a sensational screen either, the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX  has a big ace up its sleeve. We’re talking about the large 3300 mAh battery, which makes Verizon’s exclusive handheld the one with the highest economy, very easily beating the likes of the HTC One X or the iPhone 4S.

But if a strong battery wasn’t enough to make you want the RAZR MAXX, Verizon and Motorola have found a way to sweeten the deal for the 4.3″ powerhouse. Starting today, the phone is available for just $199.99 with a new two-year carrier agreement, [...]

Verizon employees get their exclusive red DROID RAZR MAXX

by: Will G.May 8, 2012

From time to time, Verizon employees are offered a special deal, whether it’s cool insider information on future phones or early releases ahead of the public market. Either way, they are usually informed what is going on in Verizon territory. Well the folks that work at Big Red now have the chance to obtain a phone which will not be available to the public at all. Specifically, Verizon employees are able to purchase a “Limited Edition” red DROID RAZR MAXX.

The DROID RAZR MAXX is definitely a phone to remember, one that stands out of the crowd of juice-thirsty 4G LTE phones. I mean, no other phone in its generation comes even close to the RAZR MAXX’ amazing [...]

Verizon Android 4.0 update rollout schedule leaked

by: Ankit BanerjeeApril 28, 2012

Saying that the Android 4.0 update rollout has been slow in the US is an understatement. But the upgrade is finally picking up pace, with the HTC Rezound, Motorola Droid RAZR, and the Droid RAZR Maxx on Verizon Wireless finally receiving their piece of Ice Cream Sandwich soon, according to a leak picked up by Droid-Life.

A Reddit user, DroidTosser, leaked screenshots of the Verizon Internal Device Update System which shows us the OTA rollout dates for the update to Android 4.0. The timeline is the following:

HTC Rezound – May 9 (Size: 297MB) (MOTA – Verizon’s 4G OTA solution) Motorola Droid Razr and Razr Maxx – May 21 (Size: 341 MB) [...]

And the best LTE smartphone is…

by: Mike AndriciApril 26, 2012

Things have changed a lot for LTE fans over the past year or so. Back in the first days of LTE (a time when Verizon was the only LTE carrier in the US), the number of possible choices faced by a potential buyer was restricted to a couple of smartphones, period. But as it stands, given the fact that AT&T has already rolled out its LTE network in numerous markets, while Sprint will soon launch an LTE network of its own, those of you that plan to purchase an LTE smartphone throughout 2012 will also have to pay attention to the carrier you’re planning to spend your next 24 contractual months with, besides choosing the smartphone that seems right for you.

At this point, [...]

European folks who want to get their hands on the Droid Razr Maxx can now pre-order the phone from UK online store Clove for a tax-including price of £430, or roughly $680. Never mind that four months have have passed since the phone was first launched; that 3300mAh battery deserves your full attention.

Pre-ordering the Droid Razr Maxx now will ensure that you’ll be one of the first to walk away with the phone when it ships in mid-May. To sweeten the deal, the online retailer will also throw in a free MOTOROKR EQ3 Wired Compact Folding Speaker, that’s worth £20.

Motorola RAZR Maxx finally coming to Europe and the Middle East… in May

by: AdrianApril 3, 2012

The Droid RAZR Maxx is currently Motorola’s flagship smartphone and, even though it has been available on the US market for about two months now, a large part of the world is yet to get a taste of the impressive 4.3-incher. But that’s about to change in the coming weeks.

According to an official Motorola announcement issued earlier today, the RAZR Maxx will be finally hitting European and Middle Eastern markets in May. Of course, it will drop the “Droid” from its name and it will not come with 4G LTE connectivity, but other than that, it will be the exact same handheld as the one on sale in the US, which makes us ask ourselves what took (and still takes) Motorola [...]

[Leak] Motorola Droid RAZR, RAZR Max and HTC Rezound to get Android 4.0 ICS updates in early April

by: Mike AndriciMarch 31, 2012

Although a recent report showed that just less than 3% of all Android devices run on Ice Cream Sandwich, we’re beginning to see more and more devices being updated to the latest version of Android. With Verizon releasing a list of all smartphones scheduled to receive the ICS update (restricted to the smartphones on Big Red’s network, of course), many smartphone owners are eagerly expecting to get a taste of Google’s latest Android version.

Fortunately for some of them, Android Police has just published a leaked Best Buy document that claims the Motorola Droid RAZR, Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx, and the HTC Rezound are scheduled to get their updates in early April. It should be [...]

Mugen releases 4000mAh battery pack for Galaxy Nexus

by: Bams SadewoMarch 12, 2012

Modern smartphones are often plagued by less than stellar battery performance, which sometimes makes a full day usage of the device impossible. The core of this problem lies in the fact that battery technology is still lagging behind the evolution of other smartphone internal components, such as the display, processor, or graphics chip.

If you’re a multi-tasker who refuses to be weighed down by USB charge cables or wall chargers inside your manbag, getting an extra battery is one way to ensure that you can complete yet another round of Angry Birds, whilst still receiving and sending those important ‘work’ e-mails.

If you love your Galaxy Nexus, chances are [...]

Boost Your Droid Razr’s Life with a Razr MAXX Battery Transplant

by: Bern OliverMarch 7, 2012
There isn't much difference between the Motorola Droid Razr and the Motorola Razr MAXX, although we can say that the latter's battery performance is ten times better than its younger Razr counterpart. If however, you have the old Motorola Droid Razr but want to get the battery life of the MAXX, you can now do so by taking the battery and the battery door from the Droid Razr MAXX and replace that of the Droid Razr. This has been successfully done by Wardo5757, who is an XDA Senior Member. Now isn't that enough assurance that he knows exactly what he's doing?
