Being one of the biggest proponents of Isis, so much so that it blocks the use of Google Wallet on its devices, Verizon strangely only has a handful of smartphones that support it.
It might have taken Motorola and Verizon some time to get out the Droid Razr HD/Razr Maxx HD duo of high-end phones, but now that the two have finally started selling, there isn’t much point in still being upset with the manufacturer and carrier. After all, it could have been worse.
You can always count on the industrious and superbly skilled community of independent Android devs to do what carriers and manufacturers are unable to, and now a bunch of new Motorola phones have made the first step towards entering the magic world of frequent custom ROMs, kernels and firmware updates.
After their official release to Canada, the Motorola Droid RAZR HD and Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx HD have gotten an official launch date in the United States. They are slated to launch on October 18th. It’ll be $199 for the RAZR HD and $299 for the RAZR Maxx HD.
Despite the supposed “death grip” issues that should have pushed back the releases of the Droid Razr HD and Razr Maxx HD until after Black Friday, it now seems that Verizon is all ready to put the duo up for grabs.
Fall is upon us and the Thanksgiving holiday season (and all the numerous sales and discounts that arrive around that time of year) is getting ever closer. As was the case every single year, smartphone manufacturers are gearing up right about this time to provide the “best and latest” of the Android ecosystem, in an attempt to gain a place in the smartphone consumer’s heart, mind and wallet. Although it seems more and more likely that the Motorola Razr HD will enjoy a release late in the year, that doesn’t stop us from speculating on the phone’s pricing. We’ve heard nothing official on that front yet, but thankfully we now have a rock-solid source revealing the Canadian price for Moto’s new flagship.
It’s Motorola’s turn to face a death grip situation, but fortunately, they found about the problem before actually releasing the device — the Verizon-bound Droid Razr HD and Droid Razr Maxx HD have been apparently delayed, due to problems with the placement of the phone’s antennas.
You don’t get to be the largest wireless service provider in the United States by sitting around and doing nothing, which is why we were expecting Verizon for a while to reveal its plans for this fall. But before Big Red got a chance to officially tell us something other than the Droid Razr HD and Maxx HD are coming “soon” and other “surprises” are to be expected, a Phone Arena tipster went on and shattered the mystery.
It wasn’t too long ago that the Droid RAZR HD was first announced. While the phone looks to be quite capable, little has been revealed when it comes to pricing or release date. Pricing still remains a mystery, but it seems we might be narrowing in on a target release date. Originally, all we knew for sure was that it was coming “before the Holidays”. Now October seems likely.
