LG Nitro HD gets Android ICS, leaked build

by: AdrianMay 24, 2012

Although they can easily go head-to-head with the likes of Samsung or HTC when talking about their phones’ hardware and performance, LG is not exactly the go-to company for high-end devices right now. This is due to the software tweaks and especially the delayed Ice Cream Sandwich updates.

Take the Nitro HD, for example, which was AT&T’s take on the original LG Optimus LTE. The 4.5-incher came with a full HD display, a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM and an 8 MP rear-facing camera, which was pretty much all that you could want from a high-end smartphone back in December 2011.

However, the device, which ran Android 2.3 Gingerbread [...]

LG continues to stay afloat in a sea riddled with tremendous competition from other mobile manufacturers such as Samsung and HTC. With its new flagship phone, the Nitro HD, LG is certainly keeping pace with the rest. First introduced way back in August, the device was reported to feature the award-winning AH-IPS screen with HD capability.

The Nitro HD was marketed to be the best in its own category, with beefed-up specifications that taunt even Samsung’s Super AMOLED Plus display powering many of its phones. The Galaxy Nexus, on the other hand, ushered in a new era in the competition, as the device is the first of its kind to feature the latest and greatest [...]

With more Android smartphones being released every month, it seems that newer devices will also get the same support from the team of developers brewing up custom ROMs for rooted devices.

One of the many benefits of having a rooted device is that it will likely perform better than without root access. For starters, rooting can unlock myriads of opportunities for you, such as being able to install custom ROMs, overclocking your phone’s processor, or installing third-party [...]

AT&T’s LG Nitro HD Specs

by: LucianNovember 14, 2011

AT&T seems to be taking Android seriously lately, especially if that means helping them promote their new LTE network. Since the iPhone doesn’t support LTE, AT&T will take the Android phones that do support it, and run with them. One of the very first such devices is the LG Nitro HD, which is very similar to the LG phone that’s launching on Bell – the LG Optimus LTE.

It seems we’re going to see a lot more HD phones from now on, because the LG Nitro HD is also one to feature such a display with a 1280×720 resolution that also makes the phone ready to be upgraded to ICS as soon as possible. The phone also comes with a dual core 1.5 [...]
